Honor has recently launched its flagship model Magic 6 Pro in the international market. This device comes with many impressive features such as a screen with brightness up to 5,000 nits, scratch-resistant coating, the most powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, a 180MP zoom camera, and a 5,600mAh battery that utilizes improved silicon carbon technology with fast charging capability up to 80W.
Following the launch of the Magic 6 Pro, DxOMark released its first review of this device. The results are quite impressive as this smartphone outperforms many well-known brands in the market, particularly in terms of the screen and battery.
Outstanding display: The Magic 6 Pro’s 6.8-inch AMOLED screen scored 157 points, surpassing the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra (155 points), Pixel 8 Pro (154 points), and iPhone 15 Pro Max (149 points) to top DxOMark’s ranking. Its strengths include smooth motion processing, suitable for video watching and gaming. However, the screen also has limitations: color shifts at different viewing angles, some noise in low-light conditions, and maximum brightness only achieved in certain HDR cases.
Powerful battery: DxOMark’s battery test results show that the Magic 6 Pro’s large battery and power-efficient Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip achieve the highest score of 157, topping the rankings. The battery life is impressive, lasting for 35 hours of calling, 50 hours of music playback, and 15 hours of gaming. However, extensive camera usage will reduce the battery life to approximately 4 hours and 39 minutes. On the other hand, the iPhone 15 Pro Max only scored 134 points according to DxOMark’s evaluation, ranking 32nd.
Exceptional selfie camera: The Magic 6 Pro’s 50MP ultra-wide selfie camera surpasses the iPhone 15 Pro Max thanks to its ability to capture sharp group photos, wide depth of field, and higher resolution. The camera is praised for its white balance, color reproduction, noise reduction, and wide dynamic range. However, it also has limitations such as loss of details in low-light conditions due to strong noise reduction, and occasional loss of sharpness in videos.
In Europe, the Honor Magic 6 Pro has a starting price of 1299 EUR, on par with other top smartphones. With the Honor brand not subjected to trade bans like its “sibling” Huawei and still offering full integration of features such as Google services and 5G connectivity, it poses a formidable challenge that Apple and Samsung cannot ignore.
