After participating in Singapore Airshow 2024, the pair of C919 and ARJ21 aircraft will fly straight to Van Don airport to continue participating in the exhibition and performance of aircraft by the Chinese Commercial Aircraft Corporation (Comac) for 4 days, from 26 – 29/2.
C919 and ARJ21-700 are the first civilian aircraft in China designed and manufactured by Comac, of which ARJ21-700 is a twin-engine jet with a maximum of 90 seats, while C919 is a narrow-body passenger aircraft with a maximum of 192 seats.
This is also the first time that C919 has been widely introduced in international exhibitions and in Vietnam.
The two Chinese aircraft will participate in the Comac Airshow exhibition and performance from February 26 – 29 in Vietnam.
C919 has a length of nearly 39 meters, a capacity of 168 passengers, and a maximum range of 4,075 km. According to the images previously released, the C919 aircraft has a seat configuration similar to the Boeing 737 Max and Airbus A320/321 models with a central aisle and two rows of seats (three on each side). C919 aspires to compete with the Boeing 737 and Airbus 320.
The C919 aircraft is displayed at the event under the auspices of China Eastern – the first Chinese airline to receive delivery of this narrow-body aircraft model. This aircraft model has been called by Chinese President Xi Jinping as a driving force for China’s “new development model” along with other scientific and technical achievements. C919 has put China on the list of a few countries that can design and manufacture aircraft, including the United States, Russia, Brazil, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany.
Mr. Hoang Van Dung, Deputy Director of Van Don International Airport, said that this exhibition and performance event of COMAC aircraft has affirmed the leading position of the first and top private airport in Vietnam, where there is full infrastructure to organize major aviation events worldwide.
This event will pave the way for the operation of commercial flights from provinces and cities of China to Van Don, Quang Ninh and initially from San Dou city (coastal city in Guangdong province, China) to Van Don (Quang Ninh province).
The C919 aircraft is welcomed with a dragon fountain ceremony upon landing at Van Don International Airport, Quang Ninh.
According to the schedule, the opening ceremony of the COMAC aircraft exhibition and performance will take place on the morning of February 27. Delegates and guests will have the opportunity to visit and experience test flights on these aircraft. After that, the aircraft will be statically displayed at Van Don Airport, while also having a schedule to move to Con Dao, Tan Son Nhat, and Dong Hoi. The event will conclude at Van Don, and the Comac aircraft will continue to fly to Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, and Vientiane (Laos).
Previously, on November 5-6, 2022, a exhibition and display of modern private aircraft was held at Van Don International Airport, featuring the world’s most luxurious aircraft manufactured by Gulfstream and the high-end airline Sun Air of the Sun Group.
