A plateau city set to become a district, nearly tripling in size, with two highways costing 37 trillion dong running through it

TP Bao Loc is the economic and social center of the southern province of Lam Dong.

The present-day city of Bao Loc (formerly known as B’Lao) is one of the two major centers in Lam Dong province located on the Di Linh – Bao Loc plateau, at an altitude of 800 – 1,000m. It is bordered by Bao Lam district to the north, east, and south. To the west and southwest, it is bordered by Da Huoai district.

With 6 wards and 5 communes, Bao Loc is currently the second-largest political, economic, cultural, and industrial center in Lam Dong province after the city of Da Lat.

The 2021-2030 Lam Dong provincial plan, with a vision to 2050, clearly states that by 2045, Lam Dong will become a centrally governed city consisting of 3 districts, 3 towns, and 3 districts.

According to this plan, by 2025, 5 communes in Bao Lam district (including Loc An, Loc Nam, Loc Thanh, Loc Tan, and Tan Lac) will be merged into Bao Loc city; Loc An commune (formerly part of Bao Lam) will become a ward of Bao Loc city.

By 2030, Loc Thanh commune (formerly part of Bao Lam) will become a ward of Bao Loc city.

By 2045, Bao Loc will become a district in the inner city area of the centrally governed Lam Dong. With a vision to 2050, Bao Loc will become a first-class municipality.

Bao Loc currently has an area of over 233km2. The merging of 5 communes will increase the city’s area to nearly 600km2, an additional 365km2; 2.56 times the current area.

Two expressways worth nearly 37 trillion VND to commence construction soon

In the future, Bao Loc city and its surrounding areas will become satellite and regional tourism centers. The development of leading eco-resort – healthcare – sports tourism centers in Bao Loc city and districts with tourism potential will affirm the brand and competitive capacity of Lam Dong in domestic and international markets.

In terms of industrial development, Lam Dong has three industrial parks with a total area of 538ha, including 1 industrial park in Bao Loc city, Loc Son Industrial Park, with an area of 183ha. In the future, the locality will allocate additional land for Loc Chau – Dai Lao Industrial Park with an area of 188ha. Notably, with the merging of 5 communes in Bao Lam district, Bao Loc will have an additional Loc An Industrial Complex with an area of 27.46ha.

In terms of transportation, it is worth noting that in the future, Lam Dong province will have 2 expressways running through it, and both projects will pass through Bao Loc city. Specifically, the Tan Phu – Bao Loc and Bao Loc – Lien Khuong expressway projects, implemented through the public-private partnership model, are being promoted by Lam Dong and are scheduled to commence construction in the third and fourth quarters of 2024.

The two projects have a total investment of trillion VND. The Tan Phu (Dong Nai) – Bao Loc (Lam Dong) expressway project has a length of about 66km (of which the section passing through Lam Dong province is 55km), with 4 lanes, and a total investment of 17,200 billion VND.

The investment project for the construction of the Bao Loc – Lien Khuong expressway section (phase 1) is about 74km long, with a roadbed width of 17m and 4 lanes. The total investment is estimated at 19,521 billion VND.
