In particular, the task force is reviewing the traffic organization, road signage, and traffic safety facilities on the route. Specifically, the team is focused on inspecting and evaluating the entire system of road markings on 2-lane highways, including continuous centerline markings (no overtaking) and dashed centerline markings (allowing overtaking). Based on that, suitable positions with straight sections and appropriate sight distances are calculated for proposing the change to dashed centerline markings.

At the same time, the team is reviewing the road sign system, painted road markings, and other traffic safety items at intersections, transition sections from 2-lane to 4-lane and from 4-lane back to 2-lane. As a result, additional direction signs, reflective studs, road signs, and adjustments to the position and content of road signs are being studied.

In addition, the team is focusing on reviewing positions with potential traffic safety risks, reviewing the entire infrastructure of the project to adjust and supplement measures to address any issues that may arise during operation, and studying adjustments to lower operating speeds to be in line with actual conditions in order to enhance traffic safety.

To improve traffic safety and operational capacity of the Cam Lo – La Son highway segment investment component project, the Vietnam Road Administration has proposed to the Ministry of Transport to allow the adjustment of lane markings between the reinforced shoulder and the travel lane from continuous centerline markings to dashed centerline markings. At the same time, it is researching options to narrow the reinforced shoulder to widen the motorized vehicle lane… These proposals are being thoroughly reviewed and studied by functional units and the task force, along with additional adjustments and solutions to enhance traffic safety on the Cam Lo – La Son expressway.

Prior to this, implementing the directive of the Minister of Transport on measures to address shortcomings and ensure traffic safety on the Cam Lo – La Son route and other 2-lane expressways, the Vietnam Road Administration urgently convened meetings with relevant units to organize and ensure traffic flow on the route; organized a task force to go to the site and direct a series of measures to review, adjust, and supplement to enhance traffic safety on the Cam Lo – La Son expressway.

The Cam Lo – La Son highway construction investment component project, phase 2017 – 2020, the Cam Lo – La Son section with a length of 98.3km is included in the investment project list for expressways, which was decided by the National Assembly and is regulated in the Government’s documents and investment decisions.

At noon on February 18, on the Cam Lo – La Son highway segment passing through Phong My commune, Phong Dien district, Thua Thien – Hue province, a collision occurred between 3 cars, resulting in casualties.
