Deputy Prime Minister: Project 500kV Circuit 3 is of great significance.

According to Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang, the 500 kV Line 3 project from Quang Trach to Pho Noi is of great importance for the socio-economic development and national security. Its completion will enhance transmission capacity, compensate for local power shortages, and ensure electricity supply and energy security for the northern region in the coming years.

On February 27, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL) in collaboration with the Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) and the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) held a ceremony to launch a competition to construct the 500kV circuit 3 power line project from Quang Trach (Quang Binh) to Pho Noi (Hung Yen).

The 500kV circuit 3 power line project consists of 4 component projects, with a total length of 519 km connecting from Quang Trach (Quang Binh) to Pho Noi (Hung Yen), with a total investment capital of about 23,000 billion VND (nearly 1 billion USD). When completed, it will help reduce the risk of overload for existing 500kV power lines, ensuring power supply for the North region in 2024 and subsequent years.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the VGCL Nguyen Dinh Khang called on officials, workers, and laborers on the construction site to work hard and be determined to complete the project according to plan. Trade unions at all levels will coordinate with contractors participating in the project to mobilize maximum resources, organize construction with the motto “4 in place”, construction “3 shifts, 4 teams”, “overcome the sun, conquer the rain”, “only focus on work, not retreat”, “work continuously through holidays and weekends” … with the highest determination, uniting efforts with the investor to complete the project in June 2024.

Highlighting the project’s significant importance to socio-economic development, national security and defense, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang stated that when completed, the project will enhance the transmission capacity of the 500kV North-South system, compensating for local power shortages in each region, especially ensuring power supply and energy security for the North region in the coming years.

Deputy Prime Minister praised the efforts and achievements of the Vietnam Electricity Group, the National Power Transmission Corporation, ministries, sectors, and local authorities in overcoming many difficulties and accomplishing a large volume of work in a short time.

Ministries, sectors, and units pledge to “overcome the sun, conquer the rain” to complete the project in June 2024.

Deputy Prime Minister also requested ministries, sectors, directly the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, along with the leaders of 9 concerned localities, to support and assist Vietnam Electricity Group in consulting and promptly resolving difficulties and obstacles to ensure the quality, progress, safety, and efficiency of the project.

Vietnam Electricity Group and the investor, the National Power Transmission Corporation, and related units must uphold a sense of responsibility, strictly comply with the commitments in the contract and the regulations of the law.

Local People’s Committees through which the project passes urgently need to direct the implementation of procedures for converting forest land use purposes to carry out column foundation construction positions; support the investor and related units in compensation, site clearance, ensuring the handover of the corridor area in March 2024, Deputy Prime Minister requested.

Deputy Prime Minister proposed that the VGCL continue to direct trade unions at all levels, officials, trade union members, ministries, sectors, and relevant localities to actively respond to the competition movement, promote responsibility, creativity; strive to perform the assigned tasks to the best of their ability; regularly care for, encourage, and take care of the members and workers participating in the project.
