Alongside the Galaxy Ring “smart ring”, Samsung also introduced another unique product at this year’s MWC: a “foldable” phone that can bend and be worn on the wrist.

Cling Band – Bendable Phone

The foldable phone concept introduced by Samsung at the exhibition is called Cling Band. This device features an ultra-flexible OLED display, which can be used as a regular smartphone or a smartwatch when worn on the wrist, depending on the user’s needs.

In the straight mode, the device looks similar to other phones on the market, with a slim design, a edge-to-edge front display, and a rear camera. The device also has a USB Type-C port and external speakers at the bottom. The structure with multiple small grooves in the middle of the body supports bending of the flexible display.

When bent, the device looks like a dome. On the back, along with the camera, there is a heart rate sensor system for health-related features when worn on the wrist, although it looks quite… odd.

Currently, this is just a concept showcasing the flexibility of Samsung Display’s OLED screen technology. One drawback of this concept is that the health monitoring sensors will not function when used in phone mode. Additionally, wearing it while sleeping might cause discomfort.

Although it’s just a concept to showcase the technology, we can’t deny that OLED screen technology has taken a significant step forward, bringing to life many ideas that were previously only in the imagination of humans.
