The People’s Committee of Da Lat city has proposed to revise the starting auction price for the 10-year lease of the famous Thuy Ta restaurant located at the scenic Xuan Huong Lake.
According to Bao Lam Dong, through the review process, Da Lat city has determined that the estimated value of the land lease and assets on the land at Thuy Ta restaurant (formerly located at 1 Yersin street) is over 3.6 billion VND per year, an increase of 35% compared to the approved price (2.66 billion VND per year). The value of the land lease and assets on the land for the restaurant over a period of 10 years is over 36.4 billion VND, an increase of 37%.
In 2023, the People’s Committee of Lam Dong province approved the annual rental price for the land and property at 1 Yersin street to be 2.66 billion VND per year (equivalent to 26.6 billion VND for 10 years). Based on the approved starting auction price, the relevant authorities organized the auction for the land and property, and Mr. Doan Hai Ha (residing in Hanoi) won the auction for Thuy Ta restaurant with a bid of over 15.1 billion VND per year (151 billion VND for 10 years).
However, after the auction result was approved by the People’s Committee of Lam Dong province, on December 5, 2023, Mr. Ha sent a letter to the People’s Committee of Da Lat city requesting the cancellation of the approved auction result. He also committed not to retrieve the deposited amount (over 608 million VND), citing the reason that Da Lat city did not allow him to change the name of Thuy Ta restaurant.
The People’s Committee of Da Lat city believes that Mr. Ha’s request is not justified for several reasons. Firstly, Thuy Ta restaurant is located in Zone I of Xuan Huong Lake, which has been recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a national scenic site in Decision 1288-VH/QD dated November 16, 1988.
Secondly, any change in the name of Thuy Ta restaurant (located in Zone I of the national scenic site Xuan Huong Lake) must be processed and approved by the relevant authority. The People’s Committee of Da Lat city does not have the jurisdiction to change the name of the restaurant.

Thuy Ta restaurant is considered a “golden” land as it is one of the two floating islands in the national scenic site Xuan Huong Lake, right in the center of the foggy city.
