Over 22,000 new businesses established in the first 2 months of the year

In the first two months of the year, the number of newly established businesses reached over 22,000, representing a 12.4% increase compared to the same period last year. Additionally, the registered capital for these new businesses totaled 218,710 billion VND, showing a nearly 33% increase compared to the same period last year.

According to data released by the General Statistics Office, in February this year, there were nearly 8.6 thousand newly established enterprises in the country with registered capital of 67.3 thousand billion VND and nearly 50.9 thousand employees, a decrease of 36.5% in the number of enterprises, a decrease of 55.6% in registered capital, and a decrease of 50.8% in the number of employees compared to January 2024. Compared to the same period last year, there was a decrease of 2.8% in the number of enterprises, an increase of 2.6% in registered capital, and a decrease of 0.3% in the number of employees. The average registered capital of a newly established enterprise in the month reached 7.8 billion VND, a decrease of 30% compared to the previous month and an increase of 5.6% compared to the same period in 2023. In addition, there were more than 5.3 thousand enterprises returning to operation in the country, a decrease of 61.3% compared to the previous month and an increase of 36% compared to the same period in 2023.

In the first two months of 2024, there were more than 22.1 thousand newly established enterprises in the country with a total registered capital of 218.7 thousand billion VND and a total registered number of 154.3 thousand employees, an increase of 12.4% in the number of enterprises, an increase of 32.8% in registered capital, and an increase of 29% in the number of employees compared to the same period last year.

The average registered capital of a newly established enterprise in the first two months of 2024 reached 9.9 billion VND, an increase of 18.2% compared to the same period in 2023. If we include the additional registered capital of 6,331 enterprises increasing capital of 300.9 thousand billion VND, the total additional registered capital injected into the economy in the first two months of 2024 is 519.6 thousand billion VND, a decrease of 0.6% compared to the same period last year.

In addition, there were nearly 19 thousand enterprises returning to operation (an increase of 4.4% compared to the same period in 2023), bringing the total number of newly established and returning-to-operation enterprises in the first two months of 2024 to nearly 41.1 thousand enterprises, an increase of 8.5% compared to the same period last year. On average, there were more than 20.5 thousand newly established and returning-to-operation enterprises per month.

By economic sector, in the first two months of 2024, there were 236 newly established enterprises in the agriculture, forestry and fisheries sector, an increase of 19.2% compared to the same period last year; 5.3 thousand enterprises in the industrial and construction sector, an increase of 12.1%; 16.6 thousand enterprises in the service sector, an increase of 12.4%.

Also in February, there were 5,146 enterprises temporarily suspending business for a limited period of time, a decrease of 88.3% compared to the previous month and an increase of 35.3% compared to the same period in 2023; there were 2,153 enterprises ceasing operations pending dissolution procedures, a decrease of 72.4% and a decrease of 18.3%; there were 1,506 enterprises completing dissolution procedures, a decrease of 30.4% and an increase of 29%.

In total, in the first two months of 2024, there were nearly 49.3 thousand enterprises temporarily suspending business for a limited period of time, an increase of 27.1% compared to the same period last year; 10 thousand enterprises ceasing operations pending dissolution procedures, an increase of 6.5%; nearly 3.7 thousand enterprises completing dissolution procedures, an increase of 14.5%. On average, there were nearly 31.5 thousand enterprises exiting the market per month.
