Toyota Vietnam has sent the expected price list of the 2024 Hilux to its nationwide dealer network. Accordingly, the Japanese pickup has 3 versions: 4×4 MT, 4×2 AT, and Adventure, with expected prices of 668 million VND, 706 million VND, and 999 million VND, respectively. For pearl white paint, customers have to pay an additional 8 million VND.
The expected prices may not be the same as the actual prices, but they are worth considering as they are provided by Toyota Vietnam. Hilux will continue to be imported from Thailand and is expected to be available for sale from May.
Previously, Toyota Vietnam temporarily suspended the import of Hilux from January 2022 due to concerns that the supply of Euro 5 standard diesel fuel is limited in Vietnam. Afterwards, the Japanese automaker only brought in the Hilux 4×2 AT version. This version aims to fill the product range, but with a price tag of 852 million VND, it lacks competitiveness compared to its segment rivals.
Last year, Hilux was the least sold vehicle in its segment with sales of only 134 units. In comparison, the corresponding figures for the Ranger were 16,085 units and for the Triton were 2,572 units.
In addition, in the pickup segment, the Hilux also has fewer updates than its competitors. The “sales king” Ranger has been upgraded, and a new Stormtrak version is coming soon. The new generation Triton is also preparing to enter Vietnam in the near future.
In terms of equipment, the top-of-the-line Adventure variant uses a 2.8L engine, while the other two variants use a 2.4L engine. The Adventure version will have some new features, such as blind-spot warning, 360-degree camera, and a large screen with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity. The lower variants will have changes to the front bumper design.
It is not yet clear whether the 2024 Hilux is a facelift upgrade similar to the one in the Australian market.
This upgrade will enhance the competitiveness of the Hilux against its rivals in the segment. However, with few noticeable changes, the Hilux may still be overshadowed by the Ranger and Triton – the two leading models in terms of sales.
