On March 3rd, it was reported by the Thua Thien – Hue Provincial People’s Committee (TT-Hue) that the provincial leadership recently had a working session with the Vietnam Railways Corporation (VNR) on the organization and operation of a tourist train connecting the two locations of Hue and Da Nang.
During the working session, Mr. Hoang Hai Minh – Vice Chairman of the TT-Hue Provincial People’s Committee – stated that the province had directed the relevant departments and sectors to survey and assess the transportation situation between Hue and Da Nang, including the number of passengers and transportation methods. They also had discussions with the Provincial Tourism Association to explore cooperative solutions with VNR for the operation of the Hue – Da Nang train service.
Mr. Hoang Hai Minh emphasized that the service development for the Hue – Da Nang railway line must be different, focusing on providing an experiential and tourist-oriented service. This includes both on the train and during travel between the two destinations, Hue and Da Nang, as well as promoting connectivity and transportation for the local residents.
To date, the TT-Hue Provincial People’s Committee has directed the Provincial Research and Development Institute to survey over 400 tourists and residents in Hue and Da Nang to listen to their desires and needs when traveling or experiencing this railway line.
The province has also worked with 20 tourism, travel, and culinary enterprises to gather proposals for the implementation of tourism services when the train service is launched.
According to Mr. Dang Sy Manh – Chairman of the Council of Members of VNR, the implementation of the Hue – Da Nang tourist train is very suitable for families and tourists looking to have an immersive experience and admire the landscapes, famous landmarks, majestic mountains, wetlands, and beautiful beaches of TT-Hue and Da Nang.
Mr. Manh believes that the advantage of passenger transportation by rail on this route is that both Hue and Da Nang stations are located in the central areas of the cities, with a large number of domestic and foreign passengers needing two-way travel, making it convenient for passengers.
VNR is ready to collaborate with tourism enterprises to discuss and develop the most optimal train schedules and business plans that meet the set objectives from all parties involved.
During the working session, the parties agreed to make efforts to put the tourist train connecting Hue – Da Nang into operation on one of the most beautiful railway routes in the country, starting on March 26th.
