It appears that average users will have to wait for several more months to own this smartphone model.

The current iPhone SE model was introduced in 2022 and features a 4.7-inch screen with a Home button, similar to the iPhone 8. It is equipped with the A15 Bionic chip, Touch ID instead of Face ID, and has a price of $429.

Recently, there have been rumors that Apple is developing a new iPhone SE 4 (4th generation) with a modern design.

And just a few hours ago, the technology news website 91mobiles claimed that they have obtained CAD files (AutoCAD designs) from Apple, which could give us a preliminary glimpse of the most anticipated iPhone model for the first half of 2024.

Specifically, these CAD files show that the iPhone SE 4 will have a 6.1-inch screen with a “notch” at the top that houses the new Face ID sensor and the front camera. The rear will still have a single camera along with a flash.

According to the analysts at 91mobiles, the iPhone SE 4 will have dimensions of 147.7 x 71.5 x 7.7 mm. To compare, the current iPhone SE has dimensions of 138.4 x 67.3 x 7.3 mm, so it can be said that the iPhone SE 4 is larger than its predecessor to accommodate the 6.1-inch screen.

It should be noted that previous rumors also indicated that the iPhone SE 4 will have a USB-C charging port instead of Lightning, and may even feature the Action button currently only available on the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max models.

Currently, there is still no detailed information about when Apple may release the iPhone SE 4, but the not-so-good news is that many analysts predict that the device, which has been continuously rumored for the past 18 months, will arrive in the hands of users in 2025.

Even in April 2023, renowned leaker Ming-Chi Kuo released information that Apple had temporarily halted the development of the iPhone SE 4.

According to the analysts at 9to5Mac, this could also be “sad news” for those hoping that the iPhone SE 4 would be a mini model similar to the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 13 mini.

In mid-May 2023, the research organization CIRP conducted a survey of US users to find out the 4 main reasons why the rate of switching from Android to iPhone has been very high over the past 5 years.

The first reason cited by US users is issues with the Android experience. Over 53% of those surveyed said they switched to iPhone because their Android smartphone “is no longer suitable due to it being old, needing repair, or having some defects affecting the experience”.

The second reason for switching is because of the new features on the iPhone such as “better camera, more accessory options, or a more intuitive user interface”.

The third reason is that even though low-end and mid-range Android smartphones are cheaper than iPhones, 15% of US users surveyed said they believe they “spend less on a new iPhone compared to their budget or to an equivalent Android model”. This may be due to discounts.

Finally, only 6% of US users who switched from Android to iPhone said it was because they were switching to use iMessage and FaceTime.

In early February 2024, CIRP also published new survey results showing that about 15% of recent iPhone buyers used to be Android users, and the Apple smartphones they targeted were usually older models rather than the latest ones.

Data for all of 2023 also indicated that 29% of this group chose models like the iPhone SE, iPhone 12, or iPhone 13. It should also be noted that only about 21% of current iPhone users have upgraded to similar models (SE, 12, or 13).
