The debate over rounding up or down the shipping fee is no longer a new issue. A few thousand dong can become the cause of many controversial stories and ignite endless arguments. Recently, a similar incident broke out in a food review group, when a member expressed their frustration about the lack of transparency of a famous online chicken feet restaurant, along with accusations of the owner’s questionable attitude. Immediately, the online community became divided, with each side staunchly defending their own standpoint.

According to the post shared, the owner of the restaurant disregards customers and lacks transparency. Specifically, this person placed an order on February 27th for a box of chicken feet and inquired about the shipping fee, which was stated as 30 thousand dong. When the order arrived, the delivery person mentioned that the fee was actually 35 thousand dong. The customer questioned the owner about this, and the owner admitted to making a mistake and agreed to compensate in the next order.

On March 1st, the customer placed another food order at the restaurant and scheduled an early delivery, which was approved by the restaurant. However, when the customer mentioned deducting 5,000 dong from the shipping fee for the previous order, the restaurant replied that they had to compensate the delivery person since they called for an early delivery.

According to the owner’s post, due to the poor handling attitude of the restaurant, the customer decided not to accept the order but still transferred 30,000 dong to the delivery person for the shipping fee. The owner of the post shared that a few thousand dong was not an issue, but their viewpoint was that “since it’s a business, even 1 dong should be accurate.” Furthermore, they only needed the restaurant owner to have a polite attitude, but the restaurant believed that a few thousand dong was not worth the customer’s fuss.

When the customer discussed the situation with the delivery person and decided not to accept the order but still transferred the shipping fee, the delivery person responded, “Suddenly, I went through all this trouble for nothing.”

Immediately below the post, the online community divided into two sides: Some believed that the restaurant owner’s behavior was poor and lacked transparency and fairness. The restaurant was at fault first, but they still had an attitude towards the customer. Even though the amount of money was small, they didn’t have the customer’s consent and didn’t respond to the issue.

The other side believed that the post owner was stingy, penny-pinching, and lived without being considerate, so they supported the restaurant.

Although everyone has their own different opinions, a few thousand dong may not be significant, but the attitude of the seller is crucial in retaining customers and avoiding unnecessary misunderstandings. Currently, the post is still being debated. What is your viewpoint?
