Investment from Australian businesses in Vietnam: 631 projects with a registered capital of USD 2.04 billion

According to the statistics from the Foreign Investment Agency (Ministry of Planning and Investment), Australian companies have currently invested in Vietnam with a total of 631 projects, registered capital reaching 2.04 billion USD.

The Foreign Investment Agency stated that Australian businesses focus their investment in 18 sectors and fields in Vietnam, including: processing and manufacturing industry; accommodation and food service activities; agriculture, forestry and fisheries; health and social assistance activities; mining and quarrying; arts, entertainment and recreation; education and training; professional, scientific and technological activities; real estate business; wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles, motorcycles…

Among them, the leading sector is the processing and manufacturing industry with 133 projects, with a total registered capital of 954.7 million USD. Accommodation and food service activities rank second with 31 projects, with a total registered capital of 154.32 million USD. The agriculture, forestry and fisheries sector ranks third with 25 projects and a total registered capital of 120.04 million USD.

According to the Foreign Investment Agency, 45 provinces and cities in Vietnam have attracted foreign direct investment (FDI) projects from Australia.

Specifically, Ba Ria – Vung Tau province leads the way with 16 projects, with a total registered capital of up to 392.21 million USD; Ho Chi Minh City ranks second with 309 projects, with a total registered capital of 231.12 million USD; Hanoi ranks third with 123 projects, with a total registered capital of 209.63 million USD.

As part of the Prime Minister’s official visit to Australia to attend the Special Summit commemorating the 50th anniversary of ASEAN-Australia relations, Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung and the delegation of the Ministry have worked with several partners and businesses to promote investment between Vietnam and Australia, especially in the field of clean energy and renewable energy.
