On March 5, Vinh Long Province held a conference to promote and attract investment from Indian businesses. Vinh Long is a prosperous region located between the Tien and Hau rivers, with abundant potential in terms of human resources, agriculture, agricultural processing, and aquaculture.

In 2023, Vinh Long’s export turnover to the Indian market reached approximately $1.33 million, accounting for 0.2% of the province’s total export turnover, mainly in leather shoes and garment production.

On the other hand, the province imported about $2 million worth of goods from India (accounting for 0.6% of the province’s total import turnover), mainly raw materials for pharmaceutical production and animal feed. In November 2023, Vinh Long successfully organized a delegation to promote investment and trade in India.

Currently, Vinh Long prioritizes attracting investment in the development of infrastructure, industrial clusters, clean agriculture, organic agriculture, and the application of high technology in conjunction with the development of tourism and the preservation of traditional crafts. The province also focuses on agricultural and aquaculture processing industries, as well as industries serving agriculture and rural areas.

“We commit that coming to Vinh Long means coming to an ‘open land’, where investors will find a stable, transparent, and open investment and business environment. They will be accompanied by a dynamic, creative, and friendly government machinery, which supports their investment activities. In addition to enjoying the preferential investment policies and support from the Government, investors will take advantage of the local strengths and benefit from specific investment policies that the province is implementing,” said Deputy Chairman of Vinh Long Province People’s Committee, Mr. Dang Van Chinh.

Sharing with the press, Mr. Madan Mohan Sethi – Consul General of India in Ho Chi Minh City – stated that this was the first business promotion conference for Indian companies in Vinh Long. Sethi himself has visited Vinh Long many times and recognizes the advantages of proximity to Ho Chi Minh City, a place with great commercial and investment potentials for Indian companies.

“The Indian market needs products from Vietnam, and recently, Vietnamese products have successfully entered the Indian market. For areas of cooperation, we can support Vinh Long companies in exporting products to India or importing products from India. Indian products have the advantages of cost savings, reliability, and quality comparable to those of other countries,” said Mr. Madan Mohan Sethi.

According to Mr. Madan Mohan Sethi, Indian businesses are interested in collaborating with Vinh Long in the fields of tourism, information technology, education, and healthcare. Indian companies are ready to support local universities and training centers.

“At the same time, I invite Vietnamese companies to visit India to see the scale of the projects. We can organize online meetings and exchanges on investment opportunities for Indian companies in Vinh Long on a monthly basis after this event,” stated Mr. Madan Mohan Sethi, Consul General of India in Ho Chi Minh City.
