On March 6, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Bao submitted a resignation letter for his position as a member of the Board of Directors of Vietcap Securities Joint Stock Company.
Accordingly, the Vietcap Board of Directors will present the latest Shareholders’ General Meeting to consider and decide on the dismissal of Mr. Nguyen Hoang Bao from his position.
Therefore, Mr. Bao will leave Vietcap Securities after more than 8 years of working.
Mr. Nguyen Hoang Bao was born in 1973, graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration from Harvard University, holds a medical degree from Northwestern University, and a Master of Business Administration from Kellogg School of Management – USA.
According to Vietcap’s introduction, he is currently Chairman of Phoenix Holdings, a company specializing in investments in technology companies, consumer/retail, financial technology, education, sports, media, and entertainment.
Previously, he was the CEO of IDG Ventures Vietnam, an investment fund specializing in consumer, technology, media, and telecommunications companies in Vietnam.
In addition to these roles, he is also the Franchise Development Director of McDonald’s Corporation in Vietnam and the CEO of Timo Digital Bank.
In 2011, he founded Saigon Heat, a professional basketball team representing Vietnam in the ASEAN Basketball League (ABL). He is also the co-founder of VBA – the Vietnam Basketball Association. He is currently the President of the Vietnam Basketball Federation and the President of the Southeast Asian Basketball Federation.
In addition to domestic sports activities, he is also the CEO of Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC). The team participated in the MLS in 2018 and has built its own stadium called the Banc of California Stadium since the first year of competition. The team won the MLS Cup in 2022.
In terms of education, he is currently a founding board member of the Vietnam-UK University. He is also a Trustee of Fulbright University Vietnam – Vietnam’s first nonprofit private university.
