From 29/02 to 05/03, the Ho Chi Minh City Police Investigation Agency has decided to prosecute and arrest 63 individuals from 10 motor vehicle inspection centers and companies involved in motor vehicle construction and modification across various provinces and cities.
This is the latest development in the expanded investigation of the vehicle inspection case. So far, the Ho Chi Minh City prosecution agency has prosecuted 318 individuals involved in misconduct related to vehicle inspections.
These individuals are being investigated for a total of 11 offenses: Bribery; Acceptance of bribery; Bribery brokerage; Use of counterfeit documents from agencies and organizations; Abuse of power and authority while performing official duties; Embezzlement of assets; Forgery in work; Production, trading, exchanging, and gifting of tools, equipment, software for illegal purposes; Unauthorized access to computer networks, telecommunications networks, or electronic devices of others; Falsification of organizational documents; Fraud and misappropriation of assets.
In this vehicle inspection case under the jurisdiction of the Ho Chi Minh City Police, the negative misconduct has been gradually uncovered, organized systemically from a number of leaders of the Vietnam Register Department, Motor Vehicle Inspection Division, to the directors of many inspection centers and related companies, resulting in significant consequences for society.
The Ho Chi Minh City Police stated that during the investigation, the Investigation Agency has recommended the relevant state management agencies to implement a series of solutions to improve the effectiveness of state management regarding motor vehicle inspection activities.
Typical solutions include: Exemption of initial motor vehicle inspections, extension of inspection cycles, delegation of authority combined with inspection and control, for localities to contribute to the stricter management of motor vehicle inspections, enhancing vehicle safety, and protecting the lives, rights, and legitimate interests of citizens and businesses.
The vehicle inspection case is under investigation nationwide. In other localities where there are cases related to vehicle inspection activities, they are under the jurisdiction of the district-level prosecution agencies.
The vehicle inspection case under the jurisdiction of the Ho Chi Minh City Police Investigation Agency is currently in the process of expanding the investigation and strict handling in accordance with the provisions of the law.
