On March 10, news from the Office of the People’s Committee of Nghệ An Province stated that the province has issued the Plan No. 163/KH-UBND on the implementation of the “Development Strategy for the Vietnamese Textile, Garment, and Leather Industry until 2030, with a vision to 2035” in the area. The goal is to reach an export value of $755 million for the textile, garment, and leather industry by 2025.

Accordingly, the People’s Committee of Nghệ An Province has set specific targets to focus on attracting investment in value-added processes based on smart, automated production with the main product groups including fibers, clothing, shoes, and leather goods for export, as well as supporting materials for the textile, garment, and leather industry.

Specifically, the average annual growth rate of industrial production value for the textile, garment, and leather industry is expected to reach 18-19% from 2024 to 2025 and 17-18% from 2026 to 2030, with a vision to 2035. The average annual export growth rate for the industry is targeted to be 17-18% from now until 2025 and 16-17% from 2026 to 2030. By 2025, it is projected that the export value of the textile, garment, and leather goods group will reach approximately $755 million; by 2030, this figure is expected to reach around $1.6 billion. The province also aims to gradually increase domestic value-added ratio, with a target of over 45% by 2030.

To achieve these goals, the People’s Committee of Nghệ An Province will prioritize the development of large-scale garment projects, focusing on value-added processes to become the leading export products and participate in global supply chains. The province also requires businesses to concentrate resources and ensure the timely implementation of projects, as well as enhance technological innovation in production and business operations.

Furthermore, it emphasizes the development of apparel products that meet domestic consumer demand, capable of competing with imported brands to effectively implement the campaign “Vietnamese People Prioritize Made-in-Vietnam Products.” The province will also focus on building and developing product brands, creating fashion trends for the domestic market, and gradually expanding its influence in international markets. Efforts will be made to innovate technologies and equipment, streamline production, improve productivity and product quality, develop the design and sample creation process, implement automated fabric cutting, diversify products, and reduce the proportion of outsourcing in the industry as a whole.
