New Milestone for Metro Line 2

On March 12, the People’s Committee of District 3, Ho Chi Minh City held a ceremony to hand over the land for the implementation of the Ben Thanh – Tham Luong urban railway project (Metro Line 2) in District 3.

At the ceremony, District 3 handed over 57 plots of land that had been reclaimed from 15 organizations and 42 households to the Management Board of urban railway project of Ho Chi Minh City for implementation according to the city’s overall progress.

Gratitude for the cooperation of the public

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Thien, Head of the Compensation and Site Clearance Board of District 3, said that there were 112 cases (95 households and individuals, 17 organizations) affected by the construction of Metro Line 2 in District 3. Among them, there were 43 cases (4 organizations, 39 households) fully compensated and 69 cases (13 organizations, 56 households) partly compensated.

The total land area for the implementation of the project is 26,051 square meters, of which the area for compensation and site clearance is about 7,166 square meters.

Up to now, the People’s Committee of District 3 has issued decisions on land reclamation, approval of compensation plan, support and resettlement for 108 cases; paid over 661 billion dong (over 71%) in compensation, support and resettlement for 71 cases, achieving a ratio of 65.74%. It has received land and plots of 57 cases, achieving a rate of 80%.

For households that have not yet handed over the land, the People’s Committee of District 3 will continue to resolve disputes, related inheritance procedures, power of attorney, as well as organize propaganda, mobilize, and dialogues to persuade households to comply with the policy as soon as possible.

In his speech at the handover ceremony, Mr. Tran Thanh Binh, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of District 3, considered that in the overall picture of the project, compensation and site clearance work is the first important factor, which is the starting point to determine the construction and completion of the project.

Therefore, in recent years, the District Party Committee, People’s Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of District 3 have resolutely led and directed the compensation and site clearance work well to ensure the rights of people whose land is reclaimed and to promptly hand over the land to the investor for the project to be implemented on schedule.

District 3 expresses gratitude to relevant agencies, organizations, and households involved in Metro Line 2 project

On behalf of the District 3 leadership, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of District 3 thanked the relevant agencies. He also acknowledged and commended the consensus and cooperation of organizations and households that have contributed to ensuring the progress of the project as planned.

He also requested the project’s investor to promptly receive the documents and the handed-over plots of land and expeditiously carry out the project according to the overall progress, contributing to solving transportation issues and urban landscape improvement in District 3 and Ho Chi Minh City.

Hope for the project to be implemented quickly

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Mr. Ho Ngoc Anh, residing at 366B Cach Mang Thang 8, Ward 10, District 3, said he was one of the first households to clear and hand over land to serve the Metro Line 2 project. He solemnly stated that he would strictly comply with the progress and timelines of the project and participate in mobilizing the remaining households to hand over the land.

Meanwhile, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, residing at 610 Cach Mang Thang 8, Ward 11, District 3 – representing the households of Ward 11, has handed over the land to implement the project – expecting Metro Line 2 to be a landmark for transportation in Ho Chi Minh City.

Mr. Binh hopes that after having clean land, the construction work of the project will be carried out quickly, efficiently, on schedule, and will not fail to meet the expectations of the people, especially the households affected by the project.

The investment and construction project of the Ben Thanh – Tham Luong urban railway line has a total length of about 11.3 km, passing through 6 districts (1, 3, 10, 12, Tan Binh, and Tan Phu). The compensation and site clearance work is for the construction of up and down stations for passengers.

There are 11 stations along the entire line, including 4 stations in District 3: S2 – Tao Dan; S3 – Dan Chu; S4 – Hoa Hung; and S5 – Le Thi Rieng.

The Management Board of urban railway project of Ho Chi Minh City said that the districts have basically completed the procedures for compensation, reaching 99.67% (584/585 cases); among them, districts 1, 10, 12, Tan Binh, and Tan Phu have reached 100%. The rate of handing over land plots has reached 89.23% (522/585 cases).
