Never Before in Toyota’s History in Vietnam: No Model Appears in the Top 10 Best-Selling Vehicles

In the current context of extremely low sales, Toyota, the 'national car maker', has been consistently reducing the prices of its car models in order to stimulate demand. At the same time, they are also preparing to launch some new car models into the market.

The Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) and TC Motor Joint Venture Hyundai Thanh Cong have released the vehicle sales figures in Vietnam in February 2024.

The top 10 best-selling models in the market in February 2024 are as follows:

1. Ford Ranger: 880 units.

2. Mitsubishi Xpander: 641 units.

3. Honda City: 640 units.

4. Mazda CX-5: 600 units.

5. Kia Sonet: 428 units.

6. Hyundai Accent: 365 units.

7. Ford Everest: 351 units.

8. Honda HR-V: 282 units.

9. Kia Carnival: 268 units.

10. Hyundai i10: 263 units.

Accordingly, for the first time, the top 10 best-selling cars do not include any Toyota models. Previously, in January 2024, only one Toyota model, the Vios, was present in the list at the 8th position. In February, Vios sold only 170 units.

The total sales for Toyota in February was 1,248 units, a decrease of 74% compared to February 2023 and a decrease of 43% compared to January 2024.

It can be observed that the sales of most car brands decreased in February, but Toyota experienced the largest decline.

It is known that after ending February with disappointing sales, Toyota has implemented a price reduction policy for the Vios and Veloz Cross.

Specifically, Veloz Cross is discounted from 20-38 million VND and Vios is discounted from 21-47 million VND.

Returning to the ranking table, Ford Ranger ranked 2nd in January and surged to the 1st position in February. In total, this model has sold 2,023 units in the first two months of the year.

Meanwhile, Mitsubishi Xpander, which was the top-selling model in January, dropped to the 2nd position, recording sales of 1,926 units.

In 2023, Xpander was the best-selling car with 19,740 units, while Ford Ranger was only ranked 4th with 16,085 units.
