The current generation of the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is the 3rd generation launched in 2015, which means it has been on the market for 9 years. Considering the average lifecycle of a model globally is 7 years, this SUV should have moved on to the 4th generation.
However, in 2024, Mitsubishi decided to…facelift the car for the 2nd time to maintain competitiveness (the first one happened in 2019) instead of upgrading to a new generation of this SUV model.
Information about this was released in Indonesia – the country where the 2nd facelift version of the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport has just been leaked. The observed changes from the leaked photos of the new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport include a new radiator grille, front bumper, and headlights, a new rear bumper (likely), and 18-inch 6-spoke alloy wheels.
It is temporarily unclear if the interior of the new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport will have any changes, but the scale of changes is likely to be minimal. Similarly, the engine options of the car are still a mystery. The highest possibility is that the existing engine options will be retained. They include the 2.4L 4-cylinder turbocharged engine with 178 horsepower/430Nm, the V6 3.0L engine with 217 horsepower (only available in the Middle East), and the 2.5L engine with 134 horsepower/324Nm.
Mitsubishi Pajero Sport 2024 is expected to be introduced in the third quarter of this year.
