An American ‘eagle’ signs a $500 million cooperation agreement upon arrival in Vietnam

On March 18th, Vietnam Development Bank (VDB) and US Eximbank signed a MOU worth 500 million USD to jointly explore and study cooperation opportunities for medium and long-term credits/guarantees, promoting economic, trade, and investment cooperation between the two countries. American businesses have expressed their interest in the Vietnamese market across various sectors.

From March 18-21, a high-level business delegation of 50 leading US companies visited and worked in Vietnam. At a press conference on the evening of March 18 in Hanoi, Mr. Ted Osius – President and CEO of USABC – introduced that the US business delegation present in Vietnam this time operates in many fields such as technology, energy, aviation and defense, manufacturing, agriculture and food, financial services, healthcare, investment funds…

This is the largest business delegation from the US to Vietnam since the two countries upgraded their comprehensive strategic partnership relationship.

Ms. Sarah Morgenthau – Special Representative for Trade and Business, US Department of State – expects that this visit by the US business delegation will enhance the increasingly close partnership between the two countries, promote cooperation and prosperity in the region. Many fields in Vietnam are attracting more and more attention from US businesses, such as health, energy, telecommunications, restaurants and hotels. Vietnam has also expanded its investment in the US in areas of strength, such as electric vehicles, creating thousands of jobs, in line with the goal of developing renewable energy between the two countries.

The companies in the delegation also expressed their interest in the Vietnamese market. Mr. Alex Levy – representative of Atmo, a famous AI solution provider in the US – said that Atmo chose Vietnam because the business wants to succeed in business and at the same time bring great value to the community and society.

“We do not prioritize investment in any country that only helps businesses make the most money, but want to choose a place with a small initial scale but with the potential to expand it. In less than 24 hours in Vietnam, I have felt the energy, the positive spirit of millions of Vietnamese people, which is a great motivation for us. Atmo wants to bring value to Vietnam as soon as possible,” Mr. Alex Levy shared.

USABC companies express interest in the Vietnamese market.

Mr. Joseph Uddo – CEO of AES Vietnam, a US direct investment company – said that the total scale of investment by this company in Vietnam has reached billions of dollars. As a major investor in the energy market in Vietnam. AES representative said he was inspired by seeing Vietnam’s development direction being what businesses expect.

“We see great opportunities in Vietnam, a fast-growing economy, leading to electricity demand and energy supply. The Vietnamese market has many opportunities, a population of 100 million people with a young, hardworking, smart, and hospitable workforce. Business-friendly environment welcomes investors, we will work together to build a bright future for Vietnam,” Mr. Joseph Uddo expressed.

In the first day of the USABC delegation working in Vietnam, a memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed.
