Tesla CEO Elon Musk may have just sent electric car enthusiasts into a frenzy with new details about the long-awaited next-generation Roadster. This is no ordinary sports car. In a recent interview on the Don Lemon Show, Musk himself declared the next Roadster as “not really a car (not even a real car, actually)”.
The Roadster prototype, first unveiled in 2017, has been shrouded in mystery due to production delays. However, Elon Musk assures us that the wait is almost over. A new prototype will be revealed later this year, with official mass production targeted for 2025.
The excitement surrounding the Roadster is due to its “insane” acceleration potential, achieved through a collaboration with SpaceX. Elon Musk promises that “some rocket technology” will push the boundaries of acceleration capability. The car could even achieve an astonishing 0-100km/h speed in less than 1 second, making it the fastest mass-produced car to date.
But here’s the interesting part. When asked about its flying capability, Elon Musk happily responded with a suggestive “yes”, hinting at an entirely new possibility. Moreover, the next-generation Tesla Roadster will employ a new control method, which Musk revealed is “like an airplane”.
Now, the question remains whether Tesla can deliver on its promises.
