Upon his arrival in the capital city of Hanoi, Tim Cook said that Apple always strives to build strong connections and bring more benefits to the people where Apple operates. “From working with local suppliers to supporting projects providing clean water and educational opportunities, we are committed to continue strengthening our connections in Vietnam” – said the CEO of Apple.

CEO Apple Tim Cook also had many words of praise when talking about the country and the people of Vietnam. He emphasized “there is nowhere like Vietnam, a vibrant and beautiful country”.

Since operating in Vietnam up to now, Apple has supported more than 200,000 direct and indirect jobs through its supply chain and iOS ecosystem. In a previous announcement on the website, Apple said it would increase spending with suppliers in Vietnam. The company has spent nearly 400,000 billion VND since 2019 through the local supply chain and more than doubled its annual spending in Vietnam during the same period.

Apple is also partnering with global clean water organization Gravity Water to install advanced rainwater storage systems in schools in Hoa Binh province. With Apple’s support, the organization is on track to meet its goal of reaching 131 schools by the end of April, providing a safe, stable year-round water source for more than 42,000 students as well as their teachers and families.

Besides clean water, Apple’s Power for Impact initiative also focuses on bringing clean energy to rural schools. Apple is working with the TRE Foundation to install solar power systems at 20 rural schools in Vietnam, while supporting a curriculum for children on sustainable development and STEM.

This year, Apple will expand the Job Training Program for People with Disabilities to promote greater inclusion and opportunity for people with disabilities in its supply chain.

Apple also supports students and teachers in STEM education methods with programming and app development resources in Vietnamese, including Apple’s Swift Playgrounds app and the Everyone Can Code project.
