Mitsubishi Triton 2024: A Comprehensive Unveiling

A convoy of next-generation Mitsubishi Tritons was recently spotted at an emissions testing center in Hanoi. This isn’t the first sighting of the revamped pickup in Vietnam. However, based on the images captured, it’s evident that the 2024 Triton will come in at least three variants.

Of the two white models, one is likely the base variant, featuring halogen headlamps, matte black fog lamp surrounds, and what appears to be silver-painted 16-inch alloy wheels. The other features larger multi-spoke wheels (likely 18-inch), projector headlamps, and silver fog lamp surrounds, suggesting it’s a higher-end trim. These two variants have been previously captured undergoing road testing.

Remarkably, another Mitsubishi Triton appeared at the testing center, believed to be the Athlete variant due to its orange exterior, complemented by black wheel arches. The cabin seats feature an orange hue that matches the exterior. This color scheme aligns with the Athlete version of the previous generation, currently sold in Vietnam, as well as the Triton Athlete 2024 available in Thailand. It’s likely to rival the Wildtrak variant of the Ford Ranger.

In Vietnam, the current generation Mitsubishi Triton is sold in two main variants: the upscale Athlete and the standard version. The high-end option offers two drivetrain choices: 1-wheel or 2-wheel drive.

The Mitsubishi Triton 2024 has undergone a complete transformation compared to its predecessor. The vehicle’s frame has been enlarged, with the wheelbase extended from 3,000 mm to 3,130 mm. The ground clearance has increased from 220 mm to 222 mm. The Japanese automaker claims the new Triton’s frame provides a 60% increase in stiffness.

The rear design of the 2024 Triton is not particularly striking, but the front has been redesigned with a distinct style that is more square and angular. The LED headlamps remain separate from the daytime running lights, but have been positioned higher. The top-of-the-range option features 18-inch alloy wheels with 265/60R18 tires.
