HCM City discovers 6 jewelry stores selling products of unknown origin

The Market Management Department (QLTT) of Ho Chi Minh City has just released a preliminary report on the inspection of gold trading activities in the area.

Initial inspection results recorded 1 business location with goods of unknown origin; 5 locations with violations such as: trading in goods of unknown origin; earrings, pendants, bracelets… with signs of counterfeiting famous brands such as CHANEL, VERSACE, LOUIS VUITTON.

HCMC Market Management has drawn up minutes and issued 6 decisions to temporarily seize all exhibits with signs of violations for further verification and handling in accordance with regulations. Confiscated jewelry-type goods have a total value of over 177 million VND.

Previously, implementing the Prime Minister’s official dispatch on strengthening gold market management measures, the HCMC Market Management Department directed Market Management teams to review and inspect gold trading businesses in the area.

Authorities inspect gold trading in HCMC

Market Management Team No. 6 has established 6 inspection teams, coordinated with the Ward People’s Committee and the Ward Police to simultaneously launch a surprise inspection of 6 gold trading points in District 6 and District 8.

Market Management Team No. 11 coordinated with the Thiec Market Management Board (District 11) to conduct propaganda, dissemination, and instruction on legal knowledge for traders trading in gold. Traders have signed a commitment not to transport, store, trade in counterfeit goods, goods of unknown origin, and goods that infringe intellectual property rights.

The leader of the HCMC Market Management Department said that it will continue to direct the Market Management teams to conduct monitoring, verification and organize inspections of gold trading enterprises. If signs of violations are detected, they will be strictly handled in accordance with regulations, contributing to stabilizing the gold market, ensuring the rights of people in accordance with the direction of the Prime Minister and the General Department of Market Management.
