On April 20, the Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee, Nguyen Tan Tuan, announced that he had just signed a proposal for the establishment of a master plan for Khanh Hoa City (with the orientation of the whole province becoming a centrally-run city) to the Prime Minister for consideration and decision.

Specifically, Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee proposed that the Prime Minister approve the policy allowing the Provincial People’s Committee to establish a master plan for Khanh Hoa urban area with the planning scope covering the entire natural area of Khanh Hoa province. In which, the ratio of the master plan for Khanh Hoa urban area is set at 1/25,000, while the central urban areas are set at 1/10,000. The planning cost is based on the local budget, and the planning period is from 2024 to 2026.
Regarding the necessity of establishing the Khanh Hoa urban master plan, Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee said that on January 28, 2022, the Politburo issued Resolution No. 09-NQ/TW on building and developing Khanh Hoa province to 2030 into a centrally-run city. Accordingly, Khanh Hoa will fully promote its potential and advantages in the sea, becoming a growth pole, a center of the South Central Coast, the Central Highlands, and the whole country in terms of marine economy. Strive to become a place where people have a high standard of living, peace, and happiness.

“Currently, the master plan of Khanh Hoa province for the period 2021 – 2030, with a vision to 2050, has been approved by the Prime Minister on March 29, 2023. Therefore, there is a sufficient basis for organizing the establishment of the master plan for Khanh Hoa urban area according to regulations,” the Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee’s proposal stated.
Previously, the Government also issued Resolution No. 42/NQ-CP dated March 21, 2022, on the Government’s Action Program to implement Resolution No. 09-NQ/TW of the Politburo on building and developing Khanh Hoa province to 2030, with a vision to 2045. The Resolution sets out the task of establishing new and adjusting construction planning and urban planning in line with Resolution No. 09-NQ/TW to adjust the urban organization space reasonably, combined with promoting the potential and strengths of each region and locality.
In it, Nha Trang city is the core urban area, Cam Ranh city is a tourism – logistics city, and Cam Lam district is becoming a modern, ecological, and international-class airport city. Meanwhile, Van Ninh district becomes a high-class coastal tourism city, Ninh Hoa town is an industrial city, Dien Khanh district is an ecological city with a traditional culture; Khanh Son and Khanh Vinh districts are ecological mountain towns. Truong Sa island district is the economic, cultural, and social center at sea of the whole country, a solid fortress protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland.
