* Song Cong is an industrial city located in the South of Thai Nguyen province; is a pivotal city for the exchange of goods between Thai Nguyen province and surrounding cities, especially the Northern key economic region.
Song Cong city has a total area of ​​about 97.31km 2 , of which the inner-city area includes 7 wards with an area of ​​51.12km 2 , the suburban area includes 3 communes with an area of ​​11.28km 2 . The total urban population in 2022 was 128,357 people, the total urban population density was 1,319 people/km 2 , the proportion of the inner-city population reached 81.8%, with an annual population growth rate of 1.92%.
Song Cong city is a satellite city of Thai Nguyen province, has a favorable location, convenient and fast connection with areas in the Hanoi capital region and the Northern mountainous midlands; located on the traffic route linking with provinces in the Northern key economic region; Conveniently linked to national and international airports; at the same time, it also has an important national defense and security position.
Taking advantage of these advantages, Song Cong city has promoted a shift in the economic structure towards increasing the proportion of Construction – Industry – Services, and reducing the proportion of Agriculture – Forestry – Fishery.
