The Provincial People’s Council of Ba Ria – Vung Tau has recently approved a resolution on the conversion of nearly 44 hectares of protective and special-use forest land for three key traffic projects in the locality. Of this, 27.23 hectares are protective forests and 16.64 hectares are special-use forests.
Specifically, the three key projects include the upgrade and expansion of coastal road 994 (from the Long Phu intersection to the Song Ray bridge, Dat Do district) and the branch connecting to provincial road 44B, which is expected to convert 16.4 hectares of protective forest land.
The section from Song Ray bridge to Trung Thuy high-end resort (Xuyen Moc district) will convert over 18 hectares of special-use and protective forests. This coastal road is 77 km long, connecting Vung Tau City and Binh Thuan, will be expanded from 6 to 8 lanes, with a designed speed of 80 km/h. The project is divided into 8 component sections, with a total investment of over 7,000 billion VND.
In addition, the conversion of 9.4 hectares of protective forest land will help the province build the Long Son – Cai Mep road through Vung Tau City and Phu My town with a length of over 3.7 km with 6 lanes. The road has a total investment cost of 1,189 billion VND, and when completed, it will connect the Vung Tau – Long Son – Cai Mep – Thi Vai – Phu My area and neighboring areas.
All three of these key projects are expected to boost the economy and tourism of Ba Ria – Vung Tau province.
