Honoring the Healing Roots of Hot Springs

Nestled amidst the verdant hills of Bao Yen district in Thanh Thuy province, Lynn Times Thanh Thuy sprawls across the renowned Thanh Thuy hot spring. One of the legendary “Big Four” hot springs of northern Vietnam, it recently played host to the vibrant “Celebration of the Hot Spring’s Source” on the auspicious 10th day of the 3rd lunar month.

Since time immemorial, Thanh Thuy has been revered as a land of “Spiritual Mountains and Blessed Waters,” where the legendary Lạc Long Quân, the father of the Vietnamese people, met his destined bride Âu Cơ. This sacred land also gave birth to Tản Viên Sơn Thánh, the revered first among the “Four Immortals” of Vietnamese mythology.

Delving deep beneath Thanh Thuy’s soil lies a natural hot spring, a testament to the vitality and energy that have nourished this land and its people for centuries.

Folklore speaks of the miraculous healing powers of this gift from nature, claiming that bathing three times in the hot springs can dispel illnesses, invigorate health, and bring good fortune. The legend surrounding the Thanh Thuy hot springs continues to resonate to this day.

Modern scientific research has corroborated these claims, demonstrating the remarkable therapeutic, health-enhancing, and beautifying effects of the springs’ mineral-rich waters.

To commemorate the significance of this natural treasure, the “Celebration of the Hot Spring’s Source” is held annually on the auspicious 10th day of the 3rd lunar month. This event serves as a symbol of the hot springs’ value to the Vietnamese people, a place where the energy of the land converges.

Coinciding with the grand Hung Kings’ Commemoration Festival on the 10th day of the 3rd lunar month, this year’s “Celebration of the Hot Spring’s Source” at Lynn Times Thanh Thuy offered a tapestry of unique experiences.

The festivities commenced with a thunderous “Journey to the Homeland” motorcycle roadshow that roared from Hanoi to the Hung Kings’ Temple and finally to Lynn Times Thanh Thuy, captivating millions of pilgrims who had gathered at the temple for the grand festival.

The centerpiece of the celebration was the “Procession of the Hot Spring’s Source.” Visitors witnessed the unveiling of a commemorative plaque acknowledging the significance of Thanh Thuy’s hot springs, partook in a prayer ceremony for peace and well-being, and immersed themselves in the stories of the springs’ origins through a re-enactment of the hot spring’s emergence. They also enjoyed cultural performances and savored the flavors of Vietnamese and Japanese cuisine.
