Tourism in Nha Trang Expects to Thrive Thanks to Infrastructure
With its advantages in climate, coastline, people, and cuisine, Nha Trang City (Khanh Hoa) is one of the three localities with the fastest-recovering tourism industry in the country after the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to a report by the Khanh Hoa Department of Tourism, in 2023, the growth targets for the tourism industry have exceeded the plan set out at the beginning of the year. Specifically, with Nha Trang City being the “core” of tourism, Khanh Hoa welcomed 7.2 million overnight visitors in 2023, an increase of 182% compared to the same period in 2022 and exceeding the plan by 80%.
In particular, the province welcomed 2.4 million international visitors, an 8-fold increase compared to 2022. Total tourism revenue for the province is estimated to reach over VND 33,000 billion, an increase of 142.8% compared to 2022…
In 2024, the Khanh Hoa tourism industry set a target of welcoming around 9 million tourists, including approximately 6 million domestic tourists and 3 million international tourists; and to achieve a tourism revenue of VND 40,100 billion.
According to experts, in 2024, the Khanh Hoa tourism industry in general and Nha Trang, in particular, will receive support from infrastructure. Notably, the Cam Lam – Vinh Hao expressway, which is expected to open to traffic on April 30th, is expected to become a “trigger” for the Nha Trang tourism industry.
The Cam Lam – Vinh Hao expressway has a length of 78.5 km, passing through 3 provinces: Khanh Hoa (nearly 5 km), Ninh Thuan (63 km), and Binh Thuan (nearly 12 km). The total investment for the project is over VND 8,925 billion.
Once completed, the Cam Lam – Vinh Hao expressway will be “joined” by 4 other expressways, creating a continuous chain of 5 expressways connecting Ho Chi Minh City with Nha Trang City, reducing travel time to just 4-5 hours, half the time it takes to travel via National Highway 1 as before. This will help increase the number of tourists from southern provinces and cities to Nha Trang.
According to actual records, the opening of the Cam Lam – Vinh Hao expressway coincides with the 5-day April 30th – May 1st holiday. Therefore, many households in Ho Chi Minh City will decide to travel to Nha Trang by road, both to relax and experience the new expressway.
Mr. Nguyen Anh Viet (residing in Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City) said that the distance from Ho Chi Minh City to Nha Trang is more than 435 km. In the past, if traveling via National Highway 1, it would take around 8-10 hours.
However, if traveling continuously along the 5 expressways, including Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay, Phan Thiet – Dau Giay, Vinh Hao – Phan Thiet, Cam Lam – Vinh Hao, and Nha Trang – Cam Lam, the entire journey from Ho Chi Minh City to Nha Trang will only take around 4-5 hours.
“If traveling from Ho Chi Minh City to Nha Trang only takes 5 hours, there is no reason to travel by plane like before. Traveling by expressway is more convenient, not dependent on flight times, and no waiting at the airport. The travel cost is also much cheaper,” said Viet happily.
Also related to this issue, a representative of the Vietnam Association of Realtors (VARs) said that Nha Trang City is being heavily invested in infrastructure, especially in the transportation system connecting Nha Trang with other localities and economic zones such as the Southern Key Economic Zone or the Central Highlands.
As a result, the number of tourists will increase, and the demand for accommodation will also increase, providing long-term support for the real estate market and helping the tourism industry boom.
Nha Trang Planning: Permits the Construction of “Landmark Projects”
To maximize its tourism potential in the long term, in addition to promoting infrastructure development, the Government and Khanh Hoa province have given Nha Trang many “favors” to develop tourism “highlights.”
Specifically, the Prime Minister has just approved the Project to Adjust the Master Plan of Nha Trang City to 2040. The goal of the plan is to promote the brand of a coastal tourism resort city nationally and internationally through upgrading the quality of urban space and tourism, attracting international-class tourism investors.
In addition, the goal of the plan is to diversify tourism products, sustainably exploit existing tourism resources, with the outstanding feature being the chain of coastal spaces, island spaces, and ecological spaces.
One of the changes in the recently adjusted master plan for Nha Trang City is the planning of a “system of urban landmarks.” This includes permitting the construction of “high-rise landmarks and landmarks of cultural, historical, architectural, and unique landscape value.”
As one of the enterprises dedicated to Nha Trang, KDI Holdings affirms that it has, is, and will continue to contribute to the city’s overall plan. The Libera Nha Trang urban project is a testament to this commitment.
Expected to become the new center of Nha Trang, Libera Nha Trang is a rare coastal urban area in the city center, located right on the extended Tran Phu road, owning 3 private beaches, with mountains at its back and the sea in front, offering a panoramic view of one of the most beautiful bays in the world. The project’s location is close enough to immerse oneself in the local cultural tourism but also far enough away to provide a true resort living experience, meeting luxury and upscale 5-star standards right in the city center.

One of the changes in the recently adjusted master plan for Nha Trang City is the planning of a “system of urban landmarks.”
“Landmark” number two, Libera Nha Trang also marks the “handshake” of leading real estate developers in Vietnam and abroad, most notably the collaboration and brand partnership between KDI Holdings and Masterise Homes – a reputable international real estate developer with extensive experience.
In addition, the project has a scale of up to 44ha and a unique and upscale 24-hour ecosystem of amenities such as the That Theater, Van San Dao Park, the ” sleepless” downtown area… contributing to the enhancement of the experience for not only domestic and international tourists but also local residents.
With all the favorable conditions and strong motivations, it can be said that this is the opportune time for Nha Trang to seize new opportunities and rise to become an international-scale city, a leading regional destination for tourism, entertainment, and commerce.
