Da Nang Airport Aiming to Become Smart Airport

Da Nang, Vietnam – April 17, 2024 – After being awarded a 5-star rating by Skytrax in early January 2024, Da Nang International Airport officially received the prestigious certificate at the “Skytrax World Airport Awards 2024” event held in Germany.

Mr. Do Trong Hau, Deputy General Director of Da Nang International Airport Terminal Investment and Operation Corporation (AHT), said that this is both an honor and a testament to the tireless improvement efforts of the entire airport team. With a spirit of hospitality and innovation, in the next phase, the airport will not only maintain its 5-star service quality but also continuously innovate to provide passengers with convenient services that exceed expectations.

Embracing Technology for Enhanced Passenger Experience

In 2024, Da Nang International Airport will continue to invest in applying technology to its operations, aiming to reduce processing times and optimize the passenger experience. Furthermore, it aims to develop the first smart airport terminal model in Vietnam. With its pioneering role, this journey promises to be challenging, but for Da Nang International Airport, anything that provides the best experience for passengers, the team is ready to face and strive to implement! Every change, big or small, made in the present can lead to significant differences in the future.

Partnership with FPT Software for Digital Transformation

On April 22, 2024, Da Nang International Airport organized a “Smart Airport Development Cooperation Announcement Ceremony” with FPT Software, aiming to promote digital transformation in the short term and strive for comprehensive modernization in the long term.

More specifically, in the second quarter, the two sides will implement and expect to complete the following projects by October 2024:

Installing AI camera systems in aviation processing areas to assess congestion levels, thus supporting the operating department in quickly detecting real-time hotspots and providing effective solutions.
Rolling out a mobile application that offers smart support solutions such as departure status notifications and current location identification on a map.
Developing a new website designed for a user-friendly experience in multilingual information search and retrieval.
Deploying additional touch-screen information retrieval and evaluation systems throughout the airport to promptly assist with information search needs. Additionally, the system has the ability to collect feedback and opinions, enabling the airport to identify issues that passengers are experiencing and make timely improvement plans.

Mr. Do Trong Hau shared, “The success or failure of digital transformation projects lies not in the chosen technology but in the way the technology is used.” Therefore, instead of opting for readily available solutions in the market, the airport chose to partner with FPT Software to jointly develop tailored solutions that optimally meet the specific needs of the airport.

Driving Innovation and Enhancing Tourism

In the context of the aviation industry that demands constant flexibility and change to meet the increasingly diverse needs of passengers, Mr. Do Trong Hau believes that FPT Software – a leading software engineering company with extensive experience in implementing international projects – is the most suitable partner to develop efficient digital transformation solutions.

Through this partnership, the airport not only aims to introduce continuously updated features that optimize passenger experience but also contribute to promoting the country’s technology industry. Mr. Do Trong Hau believes that the joint collaboration between AHT and FPT Software will create opportunities to develop a wide range of aviation services and amenities, which will streamline processing times, enhance passenger experiences, and contribute to the robust growth of tourism in Da Nang city.
