Deadly Accident at Yen Bai Cement and Minerals JSC Claims Lives of Seven Workers

Authorities in Yen Bai province are urgently taking measures to support families of victims in the particularly serious work accident at the Yen Bai Cement and Minerals Joint Stock Company (UPCoM: YBC), which killed seven workers and injured three others while also investigating the cause of this particularly serious incident.

In the early afternoon of April 22, a particularly serious occupational accident occurred at the Yen Bai Cement and Mineral Joint Stock Company headquartered in Yen Binh town, Yen Binh district, Yen Bai province.

Accordingly, during the periodic maintenance and repair of grinder No. 3 of Yen Bai Cement Plant, a subsidiary of Yen Bai Cement and Mineral Joint Stock Company, an occupational accident occurred. As a result, 7 workers were killed and 3 others were injured – currently being treated at Yen Bai Provincial General Hospital, with their health condition being stable.

The initial cause was determined to be due to an electrical motor failure of the grinder, which led to an accident for the workers who were directly performing the maintenance and repair.

Immediately after receiving the report from Yen Bai Cement and Mineral Joint Stock Company, the Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, the Chairman of the Yen Bai Provincial People’s Committee, and the relevant provincial authorities directly inspected the scene, discussed, and directed measures to handle and resolve the accident.

Currently, the competent authorities of Yen Bai province and Yen Bai Cement and Mineral Joint Stock Company are actively implementing measures to support the families of the victims in the accident, while urgently investigating the cause of the incident for strict handling in accordance with the provisions of law.

Prime Minister directs urgent investigation into the cause of the occupational accident that killed and injured 10 people

As soon as he received information about the accident, the Prime Minister directed to send sincere慰问, the deepest condolences to the families and relatives of the victims; at the same time, directing the leaders of Yen Bai province to go directly to the scene of the accident to direct the consequences and visit and support the families of the victims in the accident.

In order to promptly overcome the consequences and take measures to prevent similar accidents, the Prime Minister requested:

The Chairman of the Yen Bai Provincial People’s Committee urgently organizes a thoughtful visit, timely supports and encourages the families of the deceased victims and carries out procedures related to the deceased victims.

Visit, encourage, and support the injured victims; at the same time, direct the functional forces to urgently clarify the cause, overcome the consequences, stabilize production, urgently investigate, clarify the cause of the accident, clarify the responsibility of related organizations and individuals, and strictly handle violations in accordance with regulations law (if any).

To strengthen the inspection and examination work, timely detect and handle cases of violating regulations on labor safety in construction material production activities in the area, and absolutely not allow similar cases to occur.

The Ministry of Public Security directs the Yen Bai Provincial Police to coordinate with the relevant agencies to urgently investigate, clarify the cause of the accident, and strictly handle violations in accordance with the provisions of the law (if any).

The Ministry of Construction, in coordination with the Ministry of Labor – Invalids and Social Affairs, the Yen Bai Provincial People’s Committee and related agencies, directs businesses to carefully review regulations, standards, and processes for mining and processing minerals into cement, timely overcome existing shortcomings and limitations, and ensure absolute safety for workers./.
