A source said that the Vice President of NVIDIA’s working session is part of the working program in Vietnam from today to April 26. Accordingly, Mr. Keith Strier and his colleagues want to survey locations in 3 localities: Hanoi, Da Nang and HCMC for consideration of high-tech investment.
Specifically, NVIDIA wants to work with relevant central and local agencies to prepare for the establishment of a Research, Development and Training Center for Artificial Intelligence (AI); installation of a supercomputer system; transfer part of the production of graphics processing units (GPUs) for supercomputers to Vietnam.
In HCMC, on April 25 and 26, the NVIDIA delegation will have four working sessions with the Management Board of HCMC Hi-Tech Park; HCMC National University; CMC Technology Group; and meet the Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee to discuss investment in the semiconductor industry.
In December 2023, NVIDIA President Jesen Huang visited and worked in Vietnam. He highly appreciated Vietnam’s great potential and opportunities in the semiconductor and AI industry, especially Vietnam’s human resources in this field. Mr. Jensen Huang stated: “AI is a new wave that emerges and is larger than PC, Internet and cloud computing and it will revolutionize all industries. With the development of a culture focused on STEM activities, a strong software engineering team, and a solid infrastructure for the production of technology, and the strong determination of the Government to transform the country by technology, Vietnam is positioned to ride the new wave of AI. We look forward to making Vietnam a major center for AI production and innovation for NVIDIA”. Meeting Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on this occasion, Mr. Huang announced that NVIDIA will build a stronghold in Vietnam in the semiconductor field. NVIDIA is currently one of the largest companies in the stock market with a value of less than $2,000 billion. NVIDIA’s stock led the increase on February 22, after reporting a surge in income growth, thanks to the boom in the artificial intelligence industry. |
