Another MPV Model Crashes at Dealerships, Up to 80 Million VND Off

The Hyundai Custin MPV model is being heavily discounted for inventory clearance.

According to a survey by reporters, at the end of April 2024, a number of Hyundai dealerships are offering significant discounts on the MPV – Custin VIN number 2023.

Specifically, the Hyundai Custin 1.5T Special Edition is currently being offered by dealers for VND 885 million, a reduction of VND 60 million compared to the listed price. Meanwhile, the 2.0T high-end version has been reduced by VND 80 million to VND 919 million. In addition, customers will also receive additional gifts such as body insurance and an accessory package. The actual selling price and gifts will vary depending on the individual dealer’s policy.

Not only that, but during April 2024, Hyundai Thanh Cong is also applying promotions to the Custin model line. Customers who purchase a vehicle will be able to choose one of two incentive packages, including an interest rate of only 0% for 12 months (deferred principal up to 9 months, depending on the bank) or financial support of up to 50% of the registration fee.

Launched in mid-September 2023, Hyundai Custin comes in three versions: 1.5 Standard, 1.5 Special, and 2.0 Premium, with listed prices of VND 850 million, VND 945 million, and VND 999 million, respectively.

The vehicle has the following dimensions: length x width x height: 4,950 mm x 1,850 mm x 1,725 mm, with a wheelbase of 3,055 mm. Ground clearance is not particularly impressive at 170 mm. Compared to its competitors in the same segment, Hyundai Custin surpasses the Suzuki Ertiga (4,395 x 1,735 x 1,690 mm), has an advantage in length and width over the Mitsubishi Xpander (4,595 x 1,790 x 1,750 mm), and the Toyota Innova (4,735 x 1,830 x 1,795 mm).

Notable equipment on the vehicle includes an LED lighting system, 17-18 inch rims, electric sliding side doors and trunk doors, electrically adjustable front seats with heating and cooling functions, a 10.4-inch central touchscreen, 6 speakers, an electric parking brake, a double sunroof, sunshades for the rear seats, automatic air conditioning, air conditioning vents and charging ports for all three rows of seats…

Hyundai Custin is powered by two engine options. The first is a 2.0L Turbo GDi gasoline engine, delivering a maximum capacity of 236 horsepower and a maximum torque of 353 Nm. The second is a 1.5L Turbo GDi engine, generating a maximum capacity of 170 horsepower and a maximum torque of 253 Nm. Both engines are paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and a front-wheel-drive (FWD) system.

Safety features on the vehicle are diverse and include 6 airbags, a 360-degree surround-view camera, Blind-Spot Collision Avoidance Assist (BCA), Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Avoidance Assist (RCCA), Safe Exit Assist (SEA) when exiting the vehicle, Adaptive High-Beam Assist (AHB) headlights, tire pressure sensors, Lane Following Assist (LFA), Forward Collision Avoidance Assist (FCA), and a Driver Attention Warning (DAW) system.

At the end of March 2024, sales in the MPV segment recorded remarkable growth across most member models with relatively large margins.

Mitsubishi Xpander witnessed sales reaching 1,582 units, an increase of nearly 150% compared to 641 units in the previous month. The impressive growth rate has not only helped Xpander maintain its leading position in the segment but has also propelled it to become the best-selling model on the market in March.

The runner-up position continues to be held by the Suzuki XL7 with 677 units sold, an increase of 209% compared to February. Toyota Veloz Cross also recorded an impressive growth rate when it sold 569 units, an increase of up to 289%. Hyundai Custin ranked sixth with sales of 284 units, a 2.2-fold increase compared to the previous month. The total cumulative sales of this MPV model since the beginning of the year have reached 665 units.
