Discontinued but in high demand on the used car market, the VinFast Fadil has proven itself to be a popular vehicle in Vietnam.

Overall, the VinFast Fadil is well-regarded for its attractive design and high quality. It boasts advanced safety features and a more powerful engine than many other A-segment cars currently on sale in the market.

Due to these advantages, the VinFast Fadil has consistently been a favorite among Vietnamese consumers in the A-segment. The used car prices for this model have also been steadily rising, with the Fadil being more sought-after than rivals like the Hyundai Grand i10 or KIA Morning.

According to used car trading sites, most 2021 models (with about 3 years of use) are listed for sale at around 330-350 million VND.

Notably, last year, the price of this model hovered around 300 million VND. Clearly, after a year, the price of used cars should have decreased, but this model has shown signs of increasing in value. This price difference reflects the growing demand from buyers.

Despite the price increase, the Fadil’s depreciation is still considered low compared to the market average. In 2021, the new VinFast Fadil was listed with a starting price of 425 million VND.

After three years of use, this model has only lost about 100 million VND, equivalent to a depreciation of over 30 million VND per year.

This is a low depreciation rate for a car in the A-segment, demonstrating the VinFast Fadil’s strong value retention compared to its competitors.

What advantages does the used VinFast Fadil have over its rivals?

One of the best-selling “national car models” in its segment

Since its launch, the VinFast Fadil has consistently been a prominent name in the A-segment, helping to establish the VinFast brand in the Vietnamese automobile market.

Notably, with sales of 24,128 units, the VinFast Fadil not only led the A-segment city car segment but also became the best-selling car model in 2021 in Vietnam. VinFast’s success officially ended Vios’s reign in the Vietnamese market, which had lasted for many years.

Most powerful in its segment

The VinFast Fadil is the only model in its segment powered by a 1.4L engine (comparable to many B-segment cars). The other cars in the same segment mostly use 1.0L – 1.25L engines. Specifically, the Fadil’s engine is a 1.4L, 4-cylinder inline gasoline engine that delivers a maximum output of 98 horsepower and a torque of 128 Nm. It is paired with a CVT transmission and front-wheel drive.

This is considered the biggest advantage that gives the Fadil a competitive edge over its rivals in the same segment. The VinFast Fadil has a larger engine capacity, resulting in superior power, allowing for faster and smoother acceleration.

Additionally, it offers good fuel economy despite having a more powerful engine than its competitors. It consumes only 5.85 liters/100km in mixed driving conditions and 7.11 liters/100km in urban driving.

Equipped with modern safety features

In terms of safety, VinFast has equipped the Fadil with advanced technologies such as Hill-Start Assist (HSA), Rollover Mitigation (ROM), Traction Control, as well as standard safety features like ABS, EBD, ESC, and an alarm system for users.

Outstanding warranty

One of the prominent advantages of the 2019 VinFast Fadil over other used cars is its extended manufacturer’s warranty. Although it has stopped producing combustion engine vehicles, VinFast has announced that it will extend the warranty to 10 years, providing peace of mind to users. This is a feature that almost no other used car on the market offers.

Some limitations to note

However, the car also has certain limitations.

First and foremost, it has a shorter wheelbase than rivals such as the Kia Morning and Hyundai Grand i10. This results in a more cramped passenger compartment.

Besides, the car’s rearview mirrors are attached to the A-pillars and are quite large, which significantly reduces visibility on both sides of the vehicle. This can be troublesome for drivers, especially when encountering blind spots.

Another disadvantage of the Fadil is that its steering wheel lacks many convenient features. While most cars in this segment have a steering wheel with volume and call control buttons, the Fadil, especially the standard version, has almost no function keys on its steering wheel, except for the horn and steering buttons.

Therefore, depending on their needs, intended use, and budget, users can consider purchasing a used VinFast Fadil.
