Functional force inspects a cold storage containing many foods of unknown origin.
Previously, the Economic Police Department, Bac Tu Liem District Police coordinated with Market Management Team No. 22 to inspect the goods at the warehouse at 489 Hoang Quoc Viet Street, Co Nhue 1 Ward, Bac Tu Liem District, and discovered nearly 1 ton of food including pork, beef, and chicken, all of which were frozen products that had been bagged, some of which had been pre-marinated with spices for consumption.
At the time of inspection, the owner of the facility, Ly Van T. (born in 2003, residing in Hoang Su Phi, Ha Giang), failed to present a Business License, a certificate of a facility meeting food safety conditions, and invoices for the goods.
Ly Van T. admitted that the goods were purchased and collected from multiple sources on social media, then brought to the warehouse for preliminary processing and divided into smaller bags for sale to consumers. When he was carrying out this process, he was discovered and detained by functional forces.
Mr. T. added that recently, consumers have spent less and less time buying, selling, and processing food, and instead have opted to use convenient pre-processed or pre-cooked foods provided through channels and sales pages increasingly available on social media platforms.
According to the competent authorities, understanding this trend, individuals and entities involved in food processing and sales have developed a desire to profit illegally by mixing in and using food materials of unknown origin and quality to reduce input costs, and then processing these materials into pre-made products for consumers.
These individuals often secretly gather goods and then lock the doors to prevent strangers from entering. They primarily transport goods at noon or in the early morning hours to avoid detection by authorities.
Currently, the Bac Tu Liem District Police have seized all of the food and are proceeding with the case in accordance with regulations.
