The 6th International Exhibition on Mining, Minerals and Construction Vietnam (Mining Vietnam 2024) has officially opened in Hanoi on the morning of April 24th.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Phan Xuan Thuy, Deputy General Director of the Vietnam National Coal-Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin), said that Vietnam is considered a country with diverse mineral resources, with more than 5,000 mining sites of 60 types of minerals such as coal, bauxite, apatite, titanium, rare earth, etc.

With a history of nearly 180 years of exploitation, the Vietnam coal industry has long become the key mining industry, ensuring the national energy security. Besides, the bauxite reserves of up to 5.8 million tons have made Vietnam the country with the second largest bauxite potential in the world (United States Geological Survey (USGS), 2023).

Mr. Phan Xuan Thuy, Deputy General Director of Vinacomin.

Mr. Ben Wong, General Director of Informa Markets Vietnam, and Head of the Organizing Committee of the event, also stated that Vietnam is one of the countries with the largest mineral reserves in Southeast Asia.

However, how can Vietnam move towards a net-zero economy and transition to green technology while ensuring efficient use of existing resources? The key here is to continue investing in innovation, science, and technology, in order to optimize our mining processes and reduce our carbon footprint.

This year, the exhibition covers an area of over 6,000 m2, bringing together more than 200 leading enterprises from within and outside the country, from 17 countries and territories, such as the UK, India, Poland, the Republic of Zambia, Taiwan (China), Germany, South Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, the US, Japan, France, Singapore, China, Australia, Vietnam, and Italy.

In addition to the exhibition booths of the enterprises, the event also welcomes 3 international pavilions from India, Australia, and China. It is expected to attract more than 3,000 professional visitors.
