The upgrading and expanding project of the Hanoi – Hung Yen inter-provincial road was started in August 2021 and is expected to be completed in 2025.

This is a Group A project with a total investment of VND 2,900 billion. The project involves upgrading and expanding approximately 33 km (existing road) to four motorized lanes and two rudimentary lanes. The project is invested and supervised by the Hung Yen Provincial Transport Construction Project Management Board.

The expansion and upgrading of the Hanoi – Hung Yen inter-provincial road has great significance for socio-economic development as it is a major route passing through many of Hung Yen province’s largest industrial parks such as Khai Chau Industrial Park, Yen My II Industrial Park, Pho Noi B Industrial Park, and Thang Long II Industrial Park. There are also many urban areas on both sides, such as New City Pho Noi, Yen Son Nhan Hoa, and many other projects.

The Hanoi – Hung Yen inter-provincial road consists of two sections: Section 1 is 14.5 km long and mainly runs along Hung Yen Provincial Road 379 – National Highway 39A (located next to Yen My intersection). Section 2 (extended) is approximately 18.5 km long, continuing from the intersection of Provincial Road 380 with National Highway 39A to Gay Bridge (bordering Bac Ninh province).

Regarding the construction progress, in April 2024, the first section mainly overlaps Provincial Road 379 and has only been basically completed from the starting point of the project (Van Giang district roundabout) to the Vietnam Customs School.

The sections after are still overlapping with Provincial Road 379 and are currently under construction for the roadbed, asphalt pouring, etc. However, upon reaching Yen Hoa commune (Yen My district) at the intersection with Tuan Vu gas station, the road will continue straight instead of turning right onto Provincial Road 379 and will intersect with Road 39A (near Yen My intersection).

The road section from Tuan Vu gas station to National Highway 39A (near Yen My intersection) will pass through Khai Chau Industrial Park. This intersection is currently under construction for a flyover connecting the two expressways (Hanoi – Hai Phong and Cau Gie – Ninh Binh). This is also the end point of Section 1 and the starting point of Section 2.

In Section 2 (extended) of the project, the Luc Dien bridge over Bac Hung Hai River is being expanded. It then continues to Yen My district’s five-way intersection, where the road widens. Yen My II Industrial Park is also located along this section.

After passing through Yen My district’s five-way intersection, the Hanoi – Hung Yen inter-provincial road will continue through Thang Long II Industrial Park, the largest in Hung Yen province. This industrial park has received over 100 projects with a total registered investment capital of over USD 3 billion (accounting for nearly half of the total FDI project investment capital of Hung Yen province, which is USD 6.7 billion). In addition, this section will also pass through the New City urban area.

The road will then intersect with National Highway 5 at the Pho Noi overpass. The Pho Noi overpass is also being widened, as shown in the picture.

From the intersection with National Highway 5, the Hanoi – Hung Yen inter-provincial road will continue through Yen Son Nhan Hoa urban area.
