### Chery-Geleximco JV Inks Deal for Vietnam Market Dealership Expansion
On April 25, during the Beijing Auto Show, the joint venture between Chery and Geleximco signed cooperation agreements with 14 dealership principals to distribute Omoda and Jaecoo vehicles in Vietnam. Six investor representatives opened dealerships directly and participated in the ceremony, while eight representatives joined the meeting virtually.
Among the investor representatives opening Omoda and Jaecoo dealerships was Phương Anh Phát, the familiar face in the automotive industry who is the General Director of Jeep Vietnam Automobiles, the official distributor of Jeep and Ram vehicles in Vietnam.
The Chery-Geleximco joint venture was represented by two senior executives: Trương Quý Binh, General Manager of Chery International, and Vũ Văn Tiền, Chairman of the Board and General Director of Geleximco Group.
The Chery-Geleximco joint venture aims to have 20 dealerships in Vietnam this year and expand to 30 dealerships in 2025. The joint venture is currently recruiting staff, working on preparations, and will soon announce specific operations for the Vietnamese market.
Chery to Sell Vehicles in Vietnam from Q3
In the latest announcement, Chery, with the two brands Omoda and Jaecoo, will launch products and sales systems from the third quarter of this year. Initially, the Omoda and Jaecoo vehicles will be imported from Indonesia. Once the factory in Vietnam is completed, assembled vehicles are expected to be produced and launched in the market in 2026.
The Chery-Geleximco factory is located in Thai Binh. The investment capital for this factory is around 800 million USD (about 20,000 billion VND). The first phase of the three-phase project is planned to be completed in the first quarter of 2026. The expected capacity of the factory is 200,000 vehicles per year.
Chery previously revealed that the Omoda E5 and Jaecoo 7 PHEV would be the first products to be launched. The Omoda E5 is an electric vehicle in the C-segment SUV category with a coupe-style design, while the Jaecoo 7 is also in the C-segment SUV category but is a plug-in hybrid vehicle. Given the current infrastructure in Vietnam, the Jaecoo 7 would be a more suitable model as it does not require charging stations.
