According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the goal is to develop a stable, efficient, and sustainable cassava industry; to build a close linkage between production, processing, and consumption of products to create high economic value, contributing to job creation, poverty reduction, and improving the lives of people in rural areas; to increase export turnover and protect the environment.

Specifically, by 2030, the national fresh cassava output will reach about 11.5-12.5 million tons. The area of cassava grown using qualified plant varieties will reach 40-50%. The area of cassava grown applying sustainable farming practices will reach 50%. The export turnover of cassava and cassava products will reach 1.8-2 USD billion.

In the vision to 2050, Vietnam’s cassava industry will continue to develop sustainably, 70-80% of the cassava growing area will apply sustainable farming practices, the output of fresh cassava used for deep processing of some products (starch, ethanol, MSG…) will account for over 90%, the export turnover of cassava and cassava products will reach about 2.3-2.5 USD billion.
