Coinciding with it were the grand opening of the Coastal Square and the festive landscape axis. Sun Group Corporation joined Thanh Hoa Province and Sam Son City in organizing two major tourism events on the first day of the 30/4 and 1/5 holiday period this year.
Over 300,000 people came to Coastal Square on the opening night of the Festival
As early as the afternoon of April 27, crowds of people flocked to the square to watch the artistic water music show and await the festival. Restaurants and hotels around the area were also packed with people eager to see the show.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Le Van Tu – Chairman of Sam Son City People’s Committee affirmed: “With its advantages and potential, the City’s Party Committee and government have always determined and are committed to striving to build Sam Son into an intelligent, modern coastal tourist city, a safe, attractive, and friendly destination for domestic and foreign visitors.
To successfully achieve that goal, in addition to the attention of the Central Government and the Province, the City has been and is determined to focus on exploiting and promoting the advantages bestowed by nature, attracting domestic and foreign investors, developing new entertainment and tourism areas of international stature, concentrating on building a civilized urban system, civilized tourism, developing a polite, friendly, and hospitable behavior style, creating a comfortable mindset and satisfaction for visitors coming to Sam Son. We are determined to build Sam Son into a national key tourist city, contributing to making Thanh Hoa a new growth pole.
Sam Son City’s Coastal Square & festive landscape axis officially inaugurated
As one of the two main parts of the event, the inauguration ceremony of Sam Son City’s Coastal Square & festive landscape axis particularly attracted the attention of many of the audience present. At the time of the inauguration, Coastal Square became brightly lit with interwoven effects from the LED sphere and hundreds of multi-colored light ribbons, combined with vibrant sounds and fireworks blooming along the Square, marking the place as a destination for festivals and events.
This is a typical project with an impressive design invested by Sun Group Corporation, with architectural design consultation by ASPECT Studios (Australia) – a leading international firm in the field of landscape architecture design. The square has a capacity of up to 10,000 people, a length of 2.6km, a width of 120m, extending straight to Nam Son Ma Avenue, leading to the large-scale Sun World Sam Son entertainment complex. With the official commissioning of the Square into operation, Sam Son has made a strong mark with the addition of a modern, new public space but still rich in Thanh culture, with the symbol of Rooster and Hen Islet or the Dong Son bronze drum motif interspersed in the overall architecture.
Tourists are impressed with the high-tech water music show at the Square
One of the biggest highlights of the Square that excites and impresses many visitors are the two fountains equipped with lighting systems combined with sound and modern software to create a mesmerizing water music show. Throughout the summer, from April 27 to September 5, the Square will bring water music shows to locals and tourists to enjoy every evening from Monday to Saturday (except Sunday) from 8:45 PM to 9:00 PM. With architecture honoring local culture and the combination of high technologies, the Square is expected to become a new symbol of the city’s tourism and a rendezvous point for large-scale events and festivals.
Emphasizing the role of the project, Mr. Le Van Tu affirmed that in recent years, Sam Son’s urban infrastructure has been and is being invested synchronously and modernly, notably the Coastal Square project. The inauguration and commissioning of the Coastal Square & festive landscape axis will promote socioeconomic efficiency, create a unique community cultural space, and serve as a venue for vibrant and culturally diverse street festival activities.
A magnificent, elaborate, and emotional art program
The highlight of the program also comes from the art performances with the theme “Sam Son – A kaleidoscope of color” which are staged with many layers to highlight the local cultural identity. Spectacular, elaborate, and filled with emotion are the impressions from the performances on the event night. Inspired by the history of reclaiming and establishing territory and the characteristic cultural imprint of Thanh, the artistic journey with three chapters: “The Quintessence of Thanh Culture”, “Echoes of the Azure Sea”, and “Sam Son – A kaleidoscope of color” has brought the audience through a range of emotions.
The program features top singers from showbiz
Besides lyrical music performances praising the cultural quintessence of Thanh performed by the soulful voices of Trong Tan, Le Minh Ngoc, Huyen Trang, Duong Hoang Yen,… the program also features top singers from showbiz such as: Min, Duc Phuc, Oplus group… bringing a youthful, vibrant atmosphere, inspiring a Sam Son on the path to development. The special art program has left many good impressions on visitors, contributing to promoting the beauty and new vitality of the coastal city, establishing Sam Son as “the city of festivals and leading events in the North”.
In particular, clusters of shimmering, radiant fireworks lighting up the sky of the coastal city at the end of the program made the entire Sam Son Coastal Square explode with excitement. The program concluded to open a vibrant summer tourist season, bringing Sam Son to the milestone of 8.5 million tourists.
Coming to Sam Son this summer, visitors will be able to participate in a variety of cultural, artistic, and sports activities, notably the opening of Sun World Sam Son Park – an outdoor entertainment park with a scale of investment and the largest area in the North, invested and built by Sun Group, contributing to creating a breakthrough tourist attraction and extending the experience journey of each visitor.
In parallel, high-rise apartment towers with panoramic sea views, infrastructure projects are gradually being completed in the Sun Group ecosystem in Sam Son, promising to help create a new, modern lifestyle and business style for the people, elevate the urban appearance, and make Sam Son a leading attractive tourist destination nationwide.
