Independent travel is booming
The 5-day May Day holiday is a time when tourism explodes. While many people plan early, buying tours months in advance, many tourists “close” tours and book at the last minute.
However, late bookers often do not have room and the prices are much more expensive than booking in advance. This year’s holiday, demand from customers will increase for individual services or independent travel. Nearby destinations such as Long Hai, Phuoc Hai, Ba Ria – Vung Tau, Phan Thiet are likely to receive a large number of visitors. Nearby destinations from Hanoi such as Tam Dao, Sa Pa, Moc Chau, Ha Long, Cat Ba (Hai Phong), Ninh Binh, etc. are also expected to attract visitors, even with the possibility of being “exhausted”.
Pham Ha, CEO of Lux Group said that currently, airfares are increasing, convenient road traffic creates conditions for many families with private cars to travel independently. They do not spend money on planes, crowded trains and buses, but choose to drive themselves to be self-sufficient in terms of time.
“With tourists using personal vehicles, they will rent rooms and buy entertainment services wherever they go to experience it themselves. These are independent tourists who do not book tours through travel companies. Often they only contact to book rooms or buy entertainment services”, said Mr. Pham Ha.
This is also the reason why many travel companies providing domestic products switch to selling combo products of airline tickets, hotel rooms, or individual services such as hotel rooms, cars, and flight tickets.
“Coastal routes such as Phan Thiet, Nha Trang, Con Dao, Da Nang… are popular with tourists. Foreign tours are closed

Many families choose independent travel on the occasion of April 30 – May 1
Not only Lux Group, but many yacht service providers in Ha Long (Quang Ninh) are also full. According to a survey on many websites and booking groups, most accommodation facilities in Quang Ninh are sold out.
“Tourists’ plans to book rooms and tours close to the day have all failed. Most accommodation facilities with reasonable prices are sold out. Currently, there are only rooms in the high-end segment, with prices from VND 2.5 million/night,” said the manager of a 3-star hotel in Bai Chay, Quang Ninh.
Request price listing, do not force customers
The Vietnam National Tourism Administration has just issued a document to the Departments of Tourism, Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism on strengthening safety in tourism activities during the holiday season and summer tourist season, requiring localities to instruct business units to strictly adhere to the regulations on registration and public posting of goods prices. CEO AZA Travel Nguyen Tien Dat also predicted that Cat Ba, Sam Son, Vung Tau, Mui Ne – Phan Thiet, Da Lat, etc. are likely to be sold out. Nguyen Duc Quynh, Chairman of the Da Nang Hotel Association, said that the room occupancy rate during the holidays has reached 75-80%, and it is expected to reach 80-90% during the peak of the holiday season.
