The notice of the tentative agenda and the decision to convene the 7th extraordinary session was sent to the delegates of the National Assembly in advance.
The Standing Committee of the National Assembly decided to convene the 7th extraordinary session of the 15th National Assembly to consider the content of personnel work under its authority.
Previously, on April 26, the 13th Central Executive Committee of the Party reviewed and commented on personnel work.
Based on the current regulations of the Party and the State and considering the wishes of Mr. Vuong Dinh Hue, the Central Executive Committee of the Party agreed for Mr. Vuong Dinh Hue to cease holding the positions of Member of the Politburo, Member of the Central Executive Committee of the 13th Party Central Committee, and Chairman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, 15th tenure, 2021 – 2026.
According to regulations, the Chairman of the National Assembly is elected by the National Assembly, therefore, the dismissal process for this position will be carried out by the National Assembly.
On May 1, Secretary General of the National Assembly Bui Van Cuong also issued a notice on the approval of the initiation of prosecution, temporary detention, search of residence and workplace, and temporary suspension of the performance of duties and powers of a deputy of the 15th National Assembly for Mr. Duong Van Thai, Secretary of the Bac Giang Provincial Party Committee.
Specifically, on April 26, based on the provisions of the law, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly issued Resolution No. 1046/NQ-UBTVQH15 agreeing to the proposal of the Chief Justice of the Supreme People’s Procuracy on the initiation of prosecution, temporary detention, search of residence and workplace of Mr. Duong Van Thai, a deputy of the 15th National Assembly, in accordance with the provisions of the law;
At the same time, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly also temporarily suspended the performance of duties and powers of a deputy of the National Assembly for Mr. Duong Van Thai, a deputy of the 15th National Assembly, from the date of the decision to prosecute the accused.
