Mr. Tran Mong Hung is a prominent businessman in the banking industry who founded and built ACB into one of the leading private banks in Vietnam.

In 1993, Mr. Hung and two other shareholders, Mr. Pham Trung Cang and Mr. Trinh Kim Quang, founded Asia Commercial Joint Stock Bank (ACB) with an initial charter capital of 20 billion VND. Mr. Tran Mong Hung was the first General Director and also the Chairman of ACB’s Board of Directors throughout the 1994 – 2008 period.

According to ACB, during the more than 30 years that ACB has been in operation, Mr. Tran Mong Hung has been known as a forward-thinking leader with a business philosophy that emphasizes the rule of law, practicality, and efficiency. He is also a leader who is dedicated to his employees and the organization.

This approach has become a hallmark of ACB’s business practices, helping the bank operate effectively and remain stable in all circumstances. He has also demonstrated that prudence does not stifle progress, but rather serves as a foundation for innovation. His prudent approach helped ACB establish a core set of values that guide all of its operations, including Integrity, Prudence, Innovation, Harmony, and Effectiveness.

During his time as CEO, the Bank made its mark through creativity and innovation. ACB was the first bank in Vietnam to implement core banking technology, enabling customers to transact conveniently anywhere; it was also the first bank to issue MasterCard international credit cards and to launch Western Union’s international express money transfer service, marking the beginning of ACB’s connections with global financial institutions. His pioneering decisions reflected ACB’s spirit of continuous learning and its keenness to adopt new technologies. From that foundation, ACB has grown rapidly, contributing to the overall development of the banking sector.

Pursuing the philosophy that “people are the most important,” he laid the foundation for the Human Resource Management style that ACB practices. He believes that the key to success lies not only in numbers but in the people who achieve those results. ACB has fostered a humane working environment where job security and personal development are top priorities, and where each individual is valued. His deep concern for human development has created generations of talented successor leaders and a loyal, high-quality workforce. This has also been a key differentiator and competitive advantage for ACB to this day.

With his dedication and talent, Mr. Tran Mong Hung led ACB through difficult times with a leadership style that harmoniously combined three clear perspectives on management style, corporate culture, and human development. He has also devoted all of his talent, energy, and intellect to fulfilling the responsibilities of an ACB employee, for a strong and sustainable ACB.
