The province emerged as a “champion” in attracting tourists during the April 30-May 1 holiday: Surpassing both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City

During the five-day holiday period from April 30th to May 1st (April 27th to May 1st, 2024), Vietnam's tourism industry anticipates serving approximately 8.0 million visitors, representing a 14.2% increase compared to the same period in 2023.

Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) reported: In the holiday on April 30th – May 1st (from April 27th to May 1st), the tourism industry is expected to serve about 8 million visitors, up 14.2% compared to the same period in 2023; in which about 3.6 million visitors stay overnight. The average room occupancy at tourism accommodation establishments nationwide reached about 60%; in the peak days, it was over 70%, some coastal destinations reached 95-100%.

During the 5-day holiday this year, most destinations have welcomed more visitors, longer stays, and higher revenue compared to the same period in 2023.

Vietnam National Administration of Tourism stated: The holiday this year, most key tourist areas across the country have recorded positive signals with the number of visitors increasing compared to the same period in 2023. Due to the long holiday and the hot and sunny weather, most tourists choose seaside tourist destinations such as Quang Ninh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Nha Trang, Binh Thuan, Ba Ria – Vung Tau…, or having fun and exploring cultural and ecological tourist destinations near big cities. The main guests are individual guests, families of 3-5 people traveling by private cars. Notably, on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory, destinations in Dien Bien have welcomed a record number of tourists both before and during the holiday.

According to the report, Thanh Hoa, Quang Ninh and Khanh Hoa are the 3 key destinations receiving the largest number of visitors. Of which, Thanh Hoa served about 1.52 million visitors, up 27.2% compared to the same period in 2023 (overnight guests reached nearly 900,000). Total revenue from tourists reached about 3.805 billion VND. Quang Ninh served about 1 million people, with a total revenue of about 2,210 billion VND. Khanh Hoa served 969,950 visitors, the average room occupancy rate of tourism accommodation establishments reached about 87.4%; total revenue reached about 1,306.7 billion VND.

Some popular tourist destinations during the April 30 – May 1 holiday include: Sa Pa (Lao Cai), Moc Chau (Son La), Ha Long (Quang Ninh), Cat Ba (Hai Phong), Sam Son (Thanh Hoa), Cua Lo (Nghe An), Thien Cam (Ha Tinh) … in the North. The Central region has Quy Nhon (Binh Dinh), Tuy Hoa (Phu Yen), Mui Ne (Binh Thuan), Mang Den (Kon Tum), Da Lat (Lam Dong). In the South, trips to the West, Ba Ria – Vung Tau, Phan Thiet, Nam Cat Tien National Park, Chua Chan mountain, Tri An lake, Dau Tieng lake… attract a large number of visitors.

Tourism champion of the recent holiday: Thanh Hoa

Thanh Hoa Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism – reported that, in the 5 days of the holiday from April 27th to May 1st, tourist destinations in the province welcomed about 1.5 million visitors, an increase of 27.3% compared to the number of visitors during the same holiday in 2023; room occupancy rate reached about 82.5%…

Thanks to the synchronous implementation of solutions to welcome and serve visitors safely, along with many cultural, sports and tourism activities organized on a large scale, the total tourism revenue during the April 30-May 1 holiday this year reached over 3,800 billion VND, an increase of 32.8% compared to the same holiday in 2023.

Ho Chi Minh City

According to information from Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, this year’s holiday, visitors to tourist destinations and entertainment areas in Ho Chi Minh City are estimated at about 969,000, up 2% compared to the same period in 2023 (about 950,000 visitors). The number of guests staying at accommodation establishments is estimated at about 200,000, up 11% compared to the same period in 2023 (about 180,000 visitors).

During this holiday, Ho Chi Minh City’s tourism revenue increased by 3.4% compared to the same period last year, reaching about 3.235 billion VND.

Hanoi

According to Hanoi Department of Tourism, in the 5 days of holidays on April 30 and May 1 (from April 27 to May 1), Hanoi is expected to welcome 737,900 visitors, an increase of 4% compared to the same period in 2023. Total revenue from tourists is estimated to reach 2,500 billion VND, an increase of nearly 10% compared to the same period last year. Of which, international visitors to Hanoi reached 87,900, up 48% compared to the same period last year; domestic visitors reached 650,000, equivalent to the same period in 2023.

Quang Ninh

Quang Ninh served about 1 million people, with a total revenue of about 2,210 billion VND. In just the first 3 days of the holiday (April 27-April 29), Quang Ninh welcomed about 700,000 visitors, with revenue reaching nearly 1,500 billion VND. All 4-5 star hotels in the province are fully booked, with occupancy rates above 95%.

Nghe An

According to the report of Nghe An Department of Tourism, during the 5 days of the April 30 and May 1 holidays, Nghe An province welcomed and served about 950,000 tourists, with total revenue estimated at 1,700 billion VND.

Although the weather in Nghe An these days has been extremely sunny, people from all over the country still flocked to the homeland of Sen village and Hoang Tru village to offer a fragrant incense stick to express their respect to beloved President Ho Chi Minh.

During the holiday this year, every day, Kim Lien Relic welcomes about 1,000 delegations of visitors, 4 to 5 times more than on normal days.

Da Nang

On May 1 afternoon, Da Nang City Department of Tourism reported that the number of tourists visiting and having fun in the City increased during the holidays of April 30 and May 1.

Accordingly, the total number of visitors visiting and staying in Da Nang City during the 5-day holiday reached more than 336,000, up 11.6% compared to the same period in 2023.

Notably, international visitors reached about 72,000, more than doubled compared to the same period; domestic visitors reached about 264,000. The total tourism revenue in Da Nang city reached about 1.336 billion VND, an increase of 12.7% compared to the same period in 2023.

Khanh Hoa

Khanh Hoa Department of Tourism – reported: The holiday of April 30 – May 1 this year lasted for 5 days, so it attracted a large number of tourists coming from everywhere to Khanh Hoa for sightseeing and vacation. The total number of visitors during this holiday to Khanh Hoa for sightseeing, vacation reached nearly 970,000, the average room occupancy rate of accommodation establishments was about 87.4% and the revenue of the whole industry reached more than 1.300 billion VND.

Ba Ria – Vung Tau
