On May 1st, 2024, a video surfaced on social media depicting a young woman changing a flat tire on her VinFast Fadil by herself. The woman in the video, Duong Hang, lives and works in Hanoi.
The female driver changed the flat tire on Nguyen Xien Street.
Hang recounted that she and her assistant were driving their Fadil on Nguyen Xien Street (Hanoi) at 3:30 PM on May 1st when they ran over a nail. After getting out to inspect the damage, Hang noticed a large gash on the tire. She decided to call roadside assistance.
The tire of the VinFast Fadil had multiple punctures.
“When the tow truck driver arrived, he removed the flat tire and took it away to be replaced. At the tire shop, he quoted me a price of 1.9 million VND for a new tire, plus 300,000 VND for the service charge, for a total of 2.2 million VND.
I checked with other places and found that a new tire would have cost only 1.6 million VND. I refused to pay his price, and after some arguing, the tow truck driver decided to put the flat tire back on for free”, said Hang.
Hang then had to change the flat tire herself. She revealed that her father had previously patched punctures on her Fadil several times, and she had observed him doing so in order to learn how to remove a tire if necessary.
Duong Hang’s video of herself changing a tire has become viral on social media.
Despite her determination, changing a car tire proved to be a difficult task for Hang. She had to call a relative for instructions and ask for assistance from passersby before she was able to successfully install the spare tire on her Fadil.
As of today (May 2nd), Hang’s Fadil has been fitted with a new tire. The replacement cost only 1.2 million VND, a million VND less than the tow truck driver had quoted.
After posting the video, Duong Hang received many compliments from the online community. Comments such as “strong”, “excellent”, and “amazing” were common under the video, praising the female VinFast Fadil owner.
Many women expressed their admiration for Duong Hang’s actions.
“I think that women should learn how to change a tire so that they can handle situations like this on their own,” said Hang.
