MG7 Dealerships Start Taking Orders

Dealership sources have recently reported that MG7 pre-orders have opened, with an estimated arrival time of July. MG has yet to confirm this information.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that MG7 may be delayed once more this year.

This is not the first time MG dealers have mentioned the model. Approximately a year ago, dealers hinted at the MG7’s arrival in Vietnam during 2023. However, despite the release of new MG models such as the RX5, HS, and MG5, the MG7 remains unavailable.

Dealers estimate the MG7’s price to be around 700 million VND, nearly 200 million VND higher than the MG5.

MG7 Competes in the D-Segment Sedan Market

The MG7, with its length of 4,884 mm and width of 1,889 mm, is comparable in size to the Toyota Camry. Others in this segment include the Kia K5, Mazda6, and Honda Accord.

The MG7 rivals the Camry and Mazda6 in size, but with a distinct coupe-like silhouette.

However, the MG7’s closest competitor may be the BYD Seal, which is also scheduled to enter the Vietnamese market soon. Both the MG7 and Seal are Chinese-made sedans with coupe designs.

Advanced Features

Dealers have previously indicated that the MG7 will come in two variants: STD and LUX (similar to the MG5’s variant division). The variants may feature different engines. The higher trim level is expected to have a 254-horsepower 2.0L turbocharged engine, while the lower trim may use a 183-horsepower 1.5L turbocharged engine. The 2.0L engine will be paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission, while the 1.5L engine will utilize a 7-speed transmission.

The MG7 appears to be an enlarged version of the MG5 with a more athletic design. It incorporates sleek LED headlights, a large grille, and an LED taillight that spans the width of the rear. Dual exhausts and a fixed rear spoiler further enhance its sporty aesthetic, reminiscent of the Porsche Panamera. The top-of-the-line option in China is 19-inch wheels, similar to the Mazda6’s offerings in Vietnam.

The coupe-like form and integrated rear spoiler evoke the Porsche Panamera.

The interior is significantly more modern than its MG5 counterpart. Two large displays, 14.1 inches and 25.12 inches, are housed in the same glass panel. Bose provides the sound system. A sport steering wheel features a two-level design. The sporty theme continues with sport-styled seats and an electronic gear selector reminiscent of Audi’s models. The dashboard features minimal physical buttons. A panoramic sunroof is another notable feature.

The cabin boasts a modern design with large displays.

The precise specifications of the MG7 for the Vietnamese market are not yet known. If it arrives with the same features as the Chinese model, this vehicle will cater to tech-savvy consumers seeking a unique driving experience.
