In Quang Binh Province, heavy rains over the past few days have caused 2,000 hectares of winter-spring rice to fall, of which 1,500 hectares were in Le Thuy District and 500 hectares in Quang Ninh District. This is the area of ripe golden rice, which is ready for harvest.
Currently, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Quang Binh Province has requested Le Thuy and Quang Ninh districts to mobilize farmers to prioritize the harvest of the fallen rice with the motto “better green in the house than old in the field”. The agricultural sector advises farmers not to let the fallen rice soak in water for too long, as it may sprout and cause significant economic losses.
This winter-spring crop, Quang Binh Province planted 30,000 hectares of rice, achieving high yields compared to previous years. In Le Thuy District, the rice yield reached 74-76 tons/hectare, with a selling price of VND 8-9 million/ton. Farmers in Quang Binh Province have harvested 50% of the winter-spring rice crop. Farmers in Quang Trach District and Ba Don Town have basically completed the harvest.
On May 4, the Military Command of Le Thuy District and the Provincial Military Command of Quang Binh mobilized nearly 100 officers, unit staff, and militia forces to help farmers in Mai Thuy, Loc Thuy, and Ngan Thuy communes harvest the winter-spring rice crop.

According to forecasts, in the coming days, Quang Binh Province will continue to experience scattered showers and thunderstorms in some areas. Therefore, people should proactively respond to the unpredictable weather conditions to minimize damage to their lives and agricultural production.
In Quang Tri Province, on the night of May 3 and the early morning of May 4, widespread rain, along with whirlwinds and strong gusts, caused damage. In Dong Ha City, seven houses were damaged, and one person was injured by falling roof tiles. Three shops in Vinh Linh District were also damaged by the strong winds.
The stormy weather caused nearly 400 hectares of rice in Vinh Linh, Cam Lo, Trieu Phong, and Dong Ha to fall. Local authorities mobilized the self-defense forces, police, and shock forces to help affected families and individuals quickly overcome the consequences of the whirlwinds.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Quang Tri Province, as of now, the province has harvested nearly 24,500 hectares of winter-spring rice, accounting for 95% of the planted area. The remaining area is about 1,500 hectares, including late-planted areas in the western mountainous region of the province.
In Thua Thien Hue Province, according to the Office of the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue, from 8:30 AM to 11:00 AM on May 4, heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds caused damage to houses and trees in the province.
