On the morning of May 19, the National Assembly Office held a press conference to announce the proposed agenda for the 7th session of the 15th National Assembly.

According to the press conference, one of the important items on the agenda for this session is the consideration and decision-making on personnel work within the National Assembly’s authority.

Speaking about this matter, Mr. Bui Van Cuong, Secretary General of the National Assembly, stated that Article 4 of the Constitution stipulates that the Party leads the state and society. One of the ways this is achieved is through the Party appointing or recommending officials for election, candidature, or appointment to positions within state agencies and socio-political organizations.

Mr. Cuong further added that the 9th Plenum of the Central Committee, which had just concluded successfully, decided that the National Assembly would elect the President and the Chairman of the National Assembly during this session.

It is expected that the National Assembly will commence the personnel work in the late morning of May 20 and complete it by the morning of May 22.

Following the regulations, the National Assembly will first elect the Chairman of the National Assembly and then proceed to elect the President.

Mr. Cuong also mentioned that there has been no introduction of a candidate for the Minister of Public Security. Therefore, the National Assembly has not yet approved or dismissed anyone from this position.

“Regarding Mr. Tran Hong Ha, the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, who was approved by the National Assembly to hold the position of Deputy Prime Minister but continued to serve as the Minister for a period, the competent authority has not introduced new personnel. Hence, the official agenda for the 7th session does not include the approval or dismissal of the Minister of Public Security,” Mr. Cuong informed.

Prior to this, on May 18, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong worked with key leaders immediately after the closing of the 9th Plenum of the 13th Central Committee.

This was the first key leadership meeting after the 9th Plenum of the 13th Central Committee agreed on several important issues and introduced personnel for the 15th National Assembly to elect the President and the Chairman of the National Assembly.

The General Secretary congratulated the Central Committee for unanimously agreeing to introduce General To Lam, a member of the Political Bureau, and the Minister of Public Security, for the National Assembly to elect as the President. He also introduced Mr. Tran Thanh Man, a member of the Political Bureau and the Standing Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, for the National Assembly to elect as the Chairman of the National Assembly.

The current leadership of the Ministry of Public Security includes General To Lam, a member of the Political Bureau and the Secretary of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Public Security, who also serves as the Minister of Public Security.

There are also six deputy ministers, four of whom are members of the Central Committee: Senior Lieutenant General Tran Quoc To (Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Public Security), Senior Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Lieutenant General Le Quoc Hung, Lieutenant General Le Van Tuyen, and Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Long.
