The Leading Ladies of HAWEE: Empowering Female Leadership in Vietnam

Leading a business with hundreds or even thousands of employees is never an easy task. But for the female leaders of HAWEE, challenges and obstacles present opportunities to unleash their limitless inner strength. With their talent, resilience, and determination, these women have proven that females can excel in leadership roles, guiding their teams through the harsh challenges of the market towards great success.

Eight exceptional female entrepreneurs were honored at the first Ho Chi Minh City Excellent Female Entrepreneur Awards in 2024

For these fearless HAWEE ladies, success is not just measured by growth numbers and tangible values. The true sustainable value they bring to their organizations, businesses, and society also includes their desire to build and develop a strong, united, and adaptable team to achieve common goals.

Therefore, they focus on various aspects such as promoting diversity and inclusivity in the workplace, creating opportunities for people to develop and realize their potential, inspiring and encouraging personal growth, and advocating for sustainable development. They promote sustainability by building sustainable business and management models to protect the environment and bring long-term benefits to society. At the same time, they are also strong advocates for gender equality, creating positive change by driving projects and policies that benefit the community.

A prominent representative of the HAWEE spirit is entrepreneur Cao Thi Ngoc Dung. As the “elder sister” of Ho Chi Minh City’s female entrepreneurs and the Chairman of HAWEE, Ms. Cao Thi Ngoc Dung is also a talented captain of PNJ. As one of the first-generation female entrepreneurs in Vietnam, she has led PNJ from its humble beginnings with a 14 million VND investment and 20 employees. Today, PNJ is a large enterprise with tens of thousands of billions in revenue, Vietnam’s leading jewelry retailer with over 7,000 employees and 400 stores nationwide. For over 36 years, she has steered PNJ alongside her team, making it a business that has put Vietnam on the global jewelry map.

According to Ms. Cao Thi Ngoc Dung, who was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award of the World Jewelry Industry by Jewelry World Award, an organization’s most precious asset is its people, and the invaluable asset that nothing can buy is the mutual trust among these people. Thanks to this, PNJ’s cultural values flow continuously with three main pillars: Trust, Care, and Empowerment.

CEO of Talentnet, Tieu Yen Trinh, Vice Chairman and Head of Strategy of HAWEE, is another testament to the spirit of maximizing inner strength, determination, and pioneering the future. One of the milestones in Ms. Tieu Yen Trinh’s career was in 2007 when Price Water House Coopers (PwC) planned to sell its Executive Search Services (ESS) division. She spent three months convincing PwC to transfer ESS to her, and Talentnet was born.

Along with a team of 12 people, she gradually built Talentnet into a leading enterprise in human resource consulting services. Currently, Talentnet is developing 10 types of human resource consulting services, with more than 300 personnel and 4 offices in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Can Tho, and Da Nang. A notable feature of Talentnet is its annual salary survey and exclusive partnerships with foreign companies such as Mercer and ADP Streamline. This has provided a basis for many companies in Vietnam to improve their human resource policies.

These are just two exemplary individuals among over 200 outstanding members of HAWEE who, through their persistent efforts, have contributed significant value to businesses, communities, and are representative of female leaders who always pioneer, transcend personal limits, and unleash their inner strength to pave the way for themselves and their enterprises.

HAWEE Leader’s Forum 2024: Unlocking Solutions for Businesses

At each stage, the market presents different challenges, and the puzzle of global economic integration today is sustainable development. Market changes pose challenges for businesses, including increasing demands from investors, shifting consumer shopping habits, and the rapid development of laws and regulations on sustainability. Vietnamese enterprises that want to continue to exist and develop must quickly adapt and transform their business models and leadership approaches towards sustainability.

Understanding these challenges, HAWEE, in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh City Young Businesspeople Association, organized the “Leading the Future” forum – HAWEE Leader’s Forum 2024 to equip leaders with the necessary knowledge and skills to unlock their potential and inner strength. The forum will be a platform for speakers to share practical experiences and offer creative solutions and strategies to help businesses overcome difficulties and achieve sustainable development in the future.
